Nik found this newborn Western Diamondback Rattlesnake swimming around in a backyard koi pond in Tucson. This typically isn’t on purpose – snakes trying to get a drink can fall in and have difficulty getting out. Thankfully, this one was retrieved and relocated safely.

Arizona Black Rattlesnake Next To A Picnic Table
This Arizona Black Rattlesnake found a nice spot next to a picnic table at a rental property at the edge of the Prescott National Forest. It was found by the kids, who did the right thing by immediately telling their parents. The snake was moved back to the forest to carefully selected conditions.

A Large Group Of Rattlesnakes At An Apartment Complex
Well, this is an interesting one. A call to an apartment complex near South Mountain sent Bryce looking for two snakes said to be taking cover under a ledge of the building. When he showed up and started searching the area, he found the snakes in question: a Western Diamondback Rattlesnake and TEN newborns, as well as a Speckled Rattlesnake a few feet away. Just as he was releasing them, he got another call from the property for another location, where another Speckled Rattlesnake was hanging out. I think we may need to move into this place.
Rattlesnake Den In The Garage
This Western Diamondback Rattlesnake was found using the garage shelves as a winter den in Rio Verde. This is quite common during the cooler months in Arizona. The snake was moved to a spot that meets all of the criteria for safe winter survival, where there very well may have been other rattlesnakes hiding out under the surface.
Western Diamondback Rattlesnake In Need of a Winter Home
This Western Diamondback Rattlesnake was found in this colorful corner in mid November, almost certainly near its selected winter home. Sometimes, a snake can be unable to get to one, however. Construction displacement and imprecise relocations by fire departments can be significant challenges to rattlesnakes during the winter months. Thankfully, Dave was called out to help this one get to a good spot before it got cold(ish).
Rattlesnakes At A Construction Site
These two Western Diamondback Rattlesnakes were fished out of a trench on a Casa Grande construction site. One of which got lucky, already being half buried before being found. Both were relocated to better surroundings.
Blacktailed Rattlesnake On The Porch
Back iA call to our Prescott hotline had Dane remove a door threshold to access this dark Blacktailed Rattlesnake. It had been hanging out on the porch for awhile, and got a ride to nearby suitable habitat. This was back in September.
Rattlesnake Fencing on a Side Gate
Rattlesnake fenced gate from the inside, where some of the modifications made to this gate can be seen. The smaller gaps alongside the house are often ignored or not sufficiently sealed up to prevent rattlesnakes.
