Rattlesnake Found On Snake Fence Estimate Visit

From Jeff: “Found this dude while doing a fencing estimate in Tucson today. She had a birdseed block in the backyard and had mentioned that there was a resident rattlesnake that she sees fairly often and eats the doves and rabbits that come in. She mentioned that she saw it just a couple days ago so I went on the hunt and found it under a lemon tree.”

Packrat Nests Mean Rattlesnake Encounters

From a recent property inspection: Nick found a large packrat nest at the base of a prickly pear. These are often long-term living situations for rattlesnakes and a variety of other animals, not just the rodents. By removing an established nest like this, a homeowner can reduce their chances of having a rattlesnake encounter on their nearby patio.

Difficult To Capture Rattlesnake

From CJ on our internal Slack: “Tricky atrox [Western Diamondback Rattlesnake] at a large park/sports complex. This one was well hidden underneath the justicia bush and eluded the tongs more than a few times due to larger rocks underneath the vegetation. Eventually was able to coax it out and took him to a pack rat nest in nearby county land. Saw this Sonoran desert toad hanging out as well but he was able to stay. Peoria.”

Is Snake Fencing Ugly?

LOL I put this photo in the “before” folder before seeing the comment from Jill that this was AFTER. It’s a great example of how the black rattlesnake fencing disappears from a little distance.

It’s still winter and we have some availability for snake fence installations before the spring warmup makes our phones go nuts.

First Snake Removal of 2025

The hotline is a bit slow this year due to the dry conditions. This is the first rattlesnake removal of 2025, from about a week ago. The Western Diamondback Rattlesnake was spotted in an underground parking garage at a popular business center. There are a lot of places this snake could have been hiding out the last few months of hibernation, and was just seen this day. It was carefully captured and relocated to a better spot.

Hibernating Speckled Rattlesnake In A Garage

CJ was called out to capture this Southwestern Speckled Rattlesnake hunkered down in the back of a garage on a cool October evening. This may be the location it planned on hibernating for the winter, based on the situation and surrounding area. He was careful to find a suitable location that would serve as a replacement, in a granite outcrop with deep access within the adjacent preserve.

Rattlesnakes Can Be Attracted To Simple Things

On countless rattlesnake relocation calls, it is a simple situation like this that is the reason. While it’s easy to dismiss rattlesnake encounters as inevitable, or “your’re in the desert, deal with it”, there’s actually much that can be done. Simple actions, like adding a metal can under condensation drips like this to catch and evaporate excess moisture, can keep a rattlesnake from seeing a property a valuable resource. This situation was discussed with the homeowner on a recent property inspection service.

Shed Skin Leads To Baby Rattlesnake Find

A homeowner found a tiny shed skin in the yard and was concerned about letting the dog out. She called to get a property inspection to see if it could be found. It’s a big yard with a lot of heavy vegetation so it looked like it was going to be a challenge, but Marissa found the little guy coiled up in the dirt in the bush just a short distance from its skin.
