This small Western Diamondback Rattlesnake was found sitting in the middle of a freshly watered lawn in Mesa. The homeowner had actually spotted it the day before and tried to encourage it to leave with the hose, but the snake simply retreated into the bushes and apparently never left.
Jeff arrived the following day and found the Western Diamondback Rattlesnake still in the yard. With the gate and a drain being the only real entry and exit points, it seems very likely the snake was somewhat funnel-trapped inside the property. Add in a freshly watered lawn, bushes for cover, and some relief from the heat, and there wasn’t much incentive for it to keep searching for a way out.
