A family in a Cave Creek community got an early warning from their canine companions, who alerted them to a small Western Diamondback Rattlesnake curled up in the shade of the backyard. While waiting for Alivia to arrive, they pulled out camping chairs and watched from a safe distance, keeping an eye on the snake without disturbing it.
After a safe capture, the rattlesnake was relocated within its native home range, far from buildings and human activity. It was released into a deep burrow system in the desert just as the sun was setting, providing excellent cover as it continued on its way.
