Checking My Trail Camera in a Canyon Full of Rattlesnakes

During the hot, dry summer of 2025, I set a few trail cameras around isolated water holes in some Arizona canyons. When water gets scarce, these little pockets can concentrate a surprising amount of wildlife, so they’re great places to leave a camera and see what shows up.

In this one, I hike out alone in the dark to check the cameras, find a few rattlesnakes along the way, and ramble a little about what a normal day at Rattlesnake Solutions actually looks like.

By the time I get to one of the camera locations, though, I can’t find it. It’s dark, I’m alone in a canyon, and I’m starting to wonder if someone actually stole the thing.
