The owner of a home in North Phoenix spotted this Western Diamondback Rattlesnake sheltering from the hot sun beneath some decorative landscaping.
When Jason arrived, he noticed the snake had what appeared to be an older laceration that was still healing. Rattlesnakes live pretty rough lives, and injuries like this aren’t especially unusual in wild animals.
The snake was given some water and handled a little more carefully than usual before being relocated within its estimated home range. Jason released it directly into a large packrat nest nearby, giving it plenty of deep cover and a good place to continue recovering.
