This neonate Western Diamondback Rattlesnake was found coiled beside the front door of a storage facility in North Phoenix.
In one direction, the property is surrounded by businesses and homes. Behind the facility, however, a canal separates the developed area from a large stretch of desert. That desert is the likely origin of this little snake, which had apparently crossed the canal corridor and eventually found itself at the front door.
At this size, recently dispersed neonates can turn up in some odd places as they begin moving through the landscape on their own.
Marissa safely captured the little Western Diamondback and removed it from the property.
