Big Western Diamondback Rattlesnake In A Backyard

“This large-ish atrox (Western Diamondback Rattlesnake) made me work for it. It slipped my tongs and scrambled behind a patch of Opuntia where it seemed to have made itself a little shelter. Customer let me start removing pads off of it but still no luck getting ahold of it. Decided to flood and it slowly made its way out where I was finally able to secure it safely. This snake was fairly deep into the neighborhood so I suspect it may have been living in that yard for a bit. Took it to some desert surrounded by freeways but found it a dense packrat nest shaded by a desert hackberry and clumps of Datura. North PHX.” – CJ
