A good example of why relocating snakes during the winter is a bit more of a challenge of proper release site selection than it is in other times of year. This little Western Diamondback Rattlesnake was found under a trash can, and the homeowners gently pushed it out of the area … but it came back immediately to hide under the neighboring recycle bin.

Jill was at the home to work up a rattlesnake fence estimate and found the little guy, and helped it get to a suitable new winter den. It doesn’t need to be far, but it does need to be specific.
Just one more reason to let the fire department focus on keeping us safe in other ways, and leave the wildlife services to wildlife people .
