A Very Well-Fed Western Diamondback

A homeowner called after discovering a large Western Diamondback Rattlesnake coiled around an Agave in her front yard. While Josh was on his way, the situation changed a bit. The rattlesnake ambushed a rabbit and had just finished its meal as he arrived.

With a very full stomach, the snake retreated into a burrow beneath the Agave. Josh used a hose to carefully coax it back out, which eventually worked. Getting it from there into the bucket required a little more convincing, along with some careful maneuvering around all the surrounding cactus.

This was already one of the larger Western Diamondbacks Josh has relocated this year, and the freshly eaten rabbit made it look even more substantial.

Josh found a suitable wash within its estimated home range and, after some searching, located a large rodent den where the snake could be released directly into deep cover.
