This baby Western Diamondback Rattlesnake was found hanging out on the porch of a Scottsdale home near the McDowell Sonoran Preserve.
With that much native desert close by, finding a young rattlesnake exploring a property like this isn’t especially surprising. At this size, these snakes are out navigating the same landscape as the adults, just on a much smaller scale.
Mark captured the little Western Diamondback and relocated it within its estimated home range, releasing it directly into a packrat nest beneath a large tree. With deep cover and plenty of rodents around, it should have everything it needs to hopefully grow into a much bigger Western Diamondback.
