This homeowner went to let the dogs out onto the back deck and was understandably startled to find a Western Diamondback Rattlesnake resting comfortably on the doormat.
They gave us a call, and the snake was helpful enough to stay exactly where it was while Gary made the drive to the property.
After a fairly straightforward capture, Gary relocated the rattlesnake into deep cover inside a large packrat midden on a nearby hillside. A much better place to relax than directly outside a door with dogs on the other side.
