This little Long-nosed Snake was found inside a second-story apartment in Phoenix, which makes its appearance inside a little more impressive. For such a small snake, it had somehow managed to make its way all the way up to the second floor before slipping into the apartment.
Austin found small gaps on either side of the bottom of the front door, making it pretty clear how the snake had gotten inside once it reached the landing.
The Long-nosed Snake was relocated into a small rodent hole in the surrounding desert. As a bonus, an adult Western Diamondback Rattlesnake was sitting in ambush only about 10 feet from the release site, a good reminder of just how much can be happening in the desert without being immediately obvious.
