Phoenix | 85024 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The homeowner saw the rattlesnake coiled up on her front patio when she walked out the door. It eventually started to move and went under the manufactured home. The home also had a large deck surrounding it that was hollow underneath. We removed some siding where they had seen the snake go under, but it was nowhere to be found. There was another open hatch on the opposite side of the house, so I peeked in and saw a rattlesnake cruising toward the opening. I was able to grab the snake. The home was built on a desert hillside with a lot of rocks and had open desert just across the street. Under the home was a nice, cool spot, perfect for the snake. |

Phoenix | 85050 | Sonoran Gophersnake | The homeowner’s dog first spotted the snake on the back patio. He brought his dog inside and called me. By the time I arrived, the snake had moved to the side yard, where I captured it. It was a very large gophersnake. The homeowner said it had been rattling its tail, which is why he thought it was a rattlesnake. The backyard didn’t have much cover besides the patio. The home backed up to a drainage that led into the desert. The yard was enclosed by a block fence with a single gate. |

Phoenix | 85083 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | A rattlesnake rattled at a homeowner as she was picking up a package on her doorstep. They called us and tried to watch the snake through their window, but it eluded them. After checking the perimeter of the house, we found a small hole in front that we suspected the snake could be hiding in. We decided to carefully flush it with a garden hose. The snake’s head popped out, and I was able to safely relocate it. |

He was not home, but some workers were in the yard and sent him a video of the snake crawling under some fake turf that he had just removed and stored on the side of the house. The backyard had a pool and well-maintained bushes, but the stacks of turf on the side yard were still wet from the rain last night, providing great cover to escape the heat of the day. I took the snake to a nearby trailhead and released it into deep cover in a rocky wash away from homes. |

Phoenix | 85032 | Mediterranean house gecko | Call came in as a glue trap snake. The picture mysteriously looked like a gecko head, but I could also see a tail with no rattle, so I took the call. When I arrived, there were three Mediterranean house geckos piled on top of one another. This was a new, young homeowner who had just bought the house and felt very bad about the geckos and what he thought was a snake. He is going to research alternative means of pest control so this doesn’t happen again, by his own determination of the situation, which was a win. The geckos were safely taken out of the glue trap with oil and released. |

Phoenix | 85048 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The homeowner called about a rattlesnake curled up right outside her front door. When I arrived, the large western diamondback was still in the same spot, which made for an easy capture. There wasn’t much shade or cover in the front yard, so it was likely going to stay there all day until temperatures cooled enough for it to move around again. The snake was released into deep cover in a wash away from homes at a nearby trailhead in Ahwatukee. |

10:30 AM |
Phoenix | 85083 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | Homeowner called to report that a rattlesnake had disappeared into a bush in front of her home. She remained outside to ensure it did not leave that bush. The property was very difficult to locate, as the entrance to the dirt road is obscured by trees and overgrowth. Upon arrival, it was clear that the property is a rattlesnake paradise: acres of overgrown ground cover, bushes, and trees, along with a running hose that had been soaking the ground for hours at midday. I recommended clearing all ground cover to at least 6 inches high, or she will continue to see snakes. She will notify the groundskeeper. The property is also adjacent to a mountain and a nature preserve. |

Phoenix | 85085 | Sonoran Gophersnake | Rattlesnake on front porch. Arrived and found the snake had moved. Customer showed me a photo of the tail of a gopher snake. Searched the park area next to the house and found a yearling gopher snake hunting in an old quail nest under a bush. Captured the snake and educated the customer that it is harmless and was just taking shelter on his patio to cool down. Customer is interested in rattlesnake fencing. He already has mesh installed that looks decent. There appear to be wall gaps and a single gate on a hard surface. Customer inquired about a discount on fencing after paying for removal; I told him I would let the fencing team make that call. |

Phoenix | 85054 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The snake was hanging out by the doors at the ASU campus. It then moved to a shady area along the building and went under a lip in the structure. I was able to gently poke it and get it out. The campus is surrounded by desert, but they’re building a new community about 400 meters away, and I don’t think all that desert next to the campus will last much longer. |

Phoenix | 85050 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The homeowner went to check on her tomato plants in the backyard when she was startled by a rattlesnake caught in the netting she had used to cover the plants. Fortunately, it was a very nice day, so the heat didn’t harm the snake. It was tangled in one spot, but it hadn’t been cut by the netting and was perfectly fine. The snake was a gravid female. The homeowner hadn’t seen a rattlesnake in 20 years, even though she lives fairly close to the desert. Her yard had only one good source of shade: a lantana bush. |

2:00 AM |
Phoenix | 85351 | Nightsnake | Received a call from adult children of a homeowner about a small snake in bedroom. While they coordinated with the homeowner the relayed a picture of me which I ID’d as a desert nightsnake. Provided education on the animal and encouraged homeowner to capture it themself. Homeowner declined and agreed with quote. Arrived at the home and was greeted by homeowner’s grandchildren. I was shown to the bedroom and noted the snake between the baseboard and leg of computer desk. Captured snake using hands without incident and let grandchildren pet the snake with permission from homeowner. After quick inspection of the home I believe the snake entered through the back door as family reported having the door open often to let dogs in and out. Homeowner stated this is the first snake she had seen in the neighborhood and asked questions about rattlesnakes. I assured the customer that there was no good habitat nearby for rattlesnakes and she didn’t have to worry about them. Provided education on the colubrid snakes that do well near golf courses. |

The front and back yards had extensive plants of various heights with drip systems. I searched the entire property for additional snakes and found none. Rattlesnake fencing would not be viable for this yard as the walls are incomplete and some portions open to the desert. |

Had to do some searching around but ultimately discovered a foot long Kingsnake slithering around in her bathroom. I ended up finding the snake on the other side of the yard coiled under a tree. They had a black tail in there yard a few weeks back.
