Cave Creek 85331 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake A homeowner in Cave Creek called about a small rattlesnake in their front yard. The young Western Diamondback was in front of the garage and seemed to be trying to enter the garage, which is where it may have been hiding out to avoid the heat of the day. Home is pretty far into the neighborhood so the snake was likely stuck in the neighborhood and wandering around looking for any usable cover.

Anthem 85086 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The customer stated that they had earlier seen a large gophersnake in their fence. When the fence crew had been out doing some work following landscaping, it was brought to the customer’s attention that there was a likelihood of a snake getting into their yard due to the construction of a new house in the area and the landscaping. Snake was found in a fenced-in yard located in the rock wall fence they had built. The customer was particularly sensitive due to having been bitten at a previous home.

Mesa 85209 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Worker at Black Rock Coffee Shop in Mesa called about a western Diamondback curled up outside the store next to a rodent bait box. The surrounding desert has been completely flattened and developed recently so its a miracle this little dude was surviving. No remaining desert around so I had to take him away from the area but hopefully that will give him a better chance of survival.

Scottsdale 85259 Sonoran Gophersnake The homeowners called stating they saw a yellow and striped snake that they could not identify calling along their wall. They insisted I come relocate the snake even though I assured them it was non-venomous and harmless. When I arrived, they reported that their neighbor came and took the snake for them to relocate it, but still wanted me to inspect the property for further snakes. I found an additional gopher snake after confirming the first snake was also a gopher snake. The Gopher snake that I found was climbing up some of their bushes along the back wall in their backyard. The home has an oasis of plant life as the homeowners are very into gardening. I gave them advice on trimming the bushes, thinner and up off the ground so that it didn't offer as much cover and homes for the snakes to find appealing. The home does have rattlesnake fencing along their gate and other areas but has a block wall. I did a thorough inspection of the front and backyard. The home is in a well-developed gated community, but it has lots of natural desert landscape and botany throughout the community that offers plenty of natural habitat as well as not being far from a local preserve and trail system. The snakes were both released together as they were suspected to be a mating pair. I had gotten in touch with the neighbor who is a local herper that I know well and we got to release the snakes as a pair

Phoenix 85048 Nightsnake The homeowner called after spotting a Desert Nightsnake inside her home near the front door. She watched it crawl into a coat closet where her three cats kept watch until I arrived. The closet was full of items that had accumulated over the years, all of which had to be removed. I finally found the snake after removing the very last item from the closet. The homeowner thinks that it might have come in with an Amazon package that had been delivered earlier in the day. It is also possible that it found a way in through a very small gap in the front door. This was the second time that we have been called out to this Ahwatukee home to remove a Desert Nightsnake. No other snakes were found.

Phoenix 85042 Southwestern Speckled Rattlesnake Maintenance worker at a South Phoenix apartment complex called about a speckled rattlesnake that was outside of a tenant’s door. The complex backs right up to South Mountain Preserve, so the snake clearly wandered into the complex from the surrounding hills and was probably unable to find its way back. The tenant said he had seen it multiple times throughout the day and finally decided to call in the evening when the snake didn’t seem to be moving along. South Phoenix

Scottsdale 85266 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowners called after finding a rattlesnake curled up in a shady corner near their front door. This home in Scottsdale was surrounded by open, native desert and had a wash filled with large boulders running adjacent to the property. There was no safeguard preventing any snake from entering or exiting the front yard. The backyard was fenced off by the homeowner. No other snakes were found.

Tucson 85745 Kingsnake This homeowner called when she discovered a Kingsnake in the garden in her backyard. She has no problem with Kingsnakes, but her backyard has very few exit and entry points, as it’s closed off by a large stucco wall with no gaps or exposed drains. She was concerned the Kingsnake would be trapped in her backyard if she didn’t call for help. I was on the road in minutes, and when I arrived, the snake was still in the same area- cruising alongside the wall. After receiving a fragrant bath in Kingsnake musk, I put the snake in the bucket and found a suitable release site. A deep rodent burrow underneath a dead Saguaro with some shade made for an optimal release spot.

Phoenix 85044 Sonoran Gophersnake Gophersnake in a large bush/tree in the front yard. It is their first snake in 6 years. Over the phone, I said it was likely nonvenomous and offered that they send me a photo, but they said they wanted it removed no matter what.

Phoenix 85048 Sonoran Gophersnake The homeowner heard his dog barking in the back yard, so he went and looked and saw the large snake. Not knowing what kind it was, he got the dog inside and watched the snake go behind a nearby paver that was leaned on the fence. It ended up being a gophersnake. They have lived in this home for 30 years without seeing a snake. The home had a grassy yard with very little vegetation. There was an elementary school across the street and a big drainage the lead to a desert hillside on the other side of the home.

Tucson 85641 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake This homeowner called us after discovering a juvenile Western Diamondback Rattlesnake in her front yard. She’s no stranger to rattlesnakes, as I’ve removed several from this property before. When I arrived, the homeowner had already secured the snake in a tote bin. I removed the lid, grabbed the snake, and secured it in the bucket. The snake was released into a large rodent burrow in a nearby habitat that’s still within its native range.
