Performed full inspection of front yard. Yard kept neat with landscaping plants trimmed. Few areas for snake to seek refuge from heat. There was a desert wash that ran SE of the home where I suspect the snake went to. Wash was thick with Encelia and Ambrosia. A lot of good shade and cover. Used hose to flood out hole beneath Yucca plant near porch. No snake found. Performed quick inspection of backyard and no snake found. Informed customer that I suspected the snake made a beeline towards the wash and that’s where it is likely. Offered customer free fencing quote but she declined. |

We were able to safely catch the animal and relocate it to a nearby wash, across the road from the property. The Gila monster was placed in a large pack rat burrow with adequate shade and given water. It is believed that the animal entered the house through an open door unnoticed. |

When I arrived to property I was met by customer and escorted to back yard. Customer stated the snake was on the move. Customer pointed out the direction the snake was going. Noted juvenile atrox behind large bush. Utilized tongs to capture and bucket snake with no issue. Performed inspection of backyard. Desert wash running to SE of customer’s property. Brick wall about 1/2 meter tall with fence atop. Fence had chicken wire on it. Entire fence line had Pyracantha vines. Pointed this out to customer who stated there was nothing he could do because the vines were 10 years old and he would not cut them. Yard kept neat but many plants where snake could seek refuge from heat. Pointed out all areas to customer and provided education on snake behavior. Advised customer to be aware when he trims Pyracantha as he stated he does this often. I suspect snake entered yard from the wash by climbing up Pyracantha and through the fence. Customer declined fencing quote. |
