It was tangled in some netting and she decided to call today to have it removed. Poor snake had been out there awhile thankfully the weather has been cool. The snake did have some scale damage where the netting was cutting into its body. It had a few eggs in its belly that got it hung up. The homeowner had a garden and backed up to a golf course with a view fence. There were patches of desert throughout the community.

8:30 PM		 Scottsdale 85255 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Security at an apartment complex called about a small rattlesnake spotted by one of the tenants. When I arrived the young diamondback was curled up in the middle of the parking lot. There was some good habitat just across the street no less than a year ago but that land is now flattened and being developed, which likely displaced the snake and led to this encounter.

3:30 PM		 Paradise Valley 85253 Southwestern Speckled Rattlesnake The homeowner called us to relocate a Speckled Rattlesnake that had already been put into a bucket by staff on site. This was a large property high up on Camelback Mountain. There were several acers covered in dense, green landscaping, including a small forest worth of mature trees. The mountain surrounding the property was made of large boulders and rock structures, perfect for the species. I found another Speckled Rattlesnake while relocating the first one not far from the home, which reinforced that I was in an appropriate location.

5:30 PM		 Cave Creek 85331 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Arrived at the property and was escorted to the backyard by the homeowner. Met husband in the backyard and he pointed out where the snake was. I observed an adult atrox in ambush atop landscaping gravel next to a plastic storage container. Used tongs to capture the snake with no issue. Snake had a mellow disposition throughout the whole encounter. The customer stated the landscaper was removing some matted oregano bushes from a terrace above the pit opposite the pool. The landscaper said he lost the snake, and the customer suspects this is the snake. The customer stated it’s the second rattlesnake he’s seen in 10 years. Inspected the rest of the property including the rest of the oregano patch and no snakes were found. Customer had a view fence atop a pony wall that I’m not certain a wdb the size of the one in the bucket could have climbed and I suspect the snake may have entered through one of the gates in either side yard. I don’t suspect the snake was in the yard for a very long time as I saw no signs of denning. Offered the customer a free fence quote and he accepted.

8:00 AM		 Tucson 85710 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake A homeowner called when they found a juvenile Western Diamondback Rattlesnake in their backyard early in the morning. Although not the way they wanted to start their Sunday morning, I arrived quickly to remove the snake. When I arrived, I observed a complex situation that many don’t get to witness- predation in real time. The rattlesnake recently struck a Desert Spiny Tail lizard, and was patiently waiting for the venom to do its job. Disrupting a hunt isn’t ideal, but having a rattlesnake in your yard is even less ideal. I secured the rattlesnake and its soon-to-be meal in the bucket, and released it to nearby habitat within its home range. I sent the rattlesnake down into a packrat nest and placed the lizard inside the entrance of the burrow, that way the snake could finish what it started.

10:00 AM		 Cave Creek 85331 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The caller spotted a rattlesnake coiled under a bush she was about to trim. When I arrived the snake was still sitting in ambush looking particularly regal. The snake was quickly removed without incident. During my inspection, I located multiple sheddings at different locations on the property and they appeared to be from separate individuals. I made several recommendations to the homeowners to reduce the number of attractive features of their yards.

10:30 AM		 Tucson 85750 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake This homeowner called when he discovered a Western Diamondback Rattlesnake cruising around his cactus garden in the backyard. I arrived quickly and secured this docile adult in the bucket. I was able to find nearby habitat to release the snake into that was still within its home range. Although, this rattlesnake hit the jackpot for a new home. I found a large active freshwater stream near a canyon that made for the perfect new home. I found an active rodent den alongside the stream that was teeming with vegetation and life. Having an abundant food and water source will set this animal up for success and live a long, healthy life without human conflict.

11:30 AM		 Phoenix 85083 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake A concerned citizen called with a report of a rattlesnake entering under a locked door by the public bathrooms at Deem Hills park. I was able to reach the park rangers via the police department. Once they finally arrived and unlocked the door, I was able to immediately see the snake sitting in ambush. I removed the snake without incident. No other snakes recovered.

12:00 PM		 Tucson 85742 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake This homeowner called when he was spraying for ants in his front yard and encountered a Western Diamondback Rattlesnake. He called us and I quickly responded to come get the snake. When I arrived, the snake was moving alongside the house. I was able to get the snake, secure it in the bucket, and release it into a deep rodent burrow in a nearby wash within its native home range.

7:00 PM		 Cave Creek 85331 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowners called after the neighbors saw a rattlesnake cross the road into their front yard, they saw the snake bedded down and curled up in the lantana bushes/ground cover near their front door. When I arrived they were sitting nearby keeping watch of the snake, but it had just started to move away a few feet from where they had last eyes on it, but I immediately noticed it and bucketed the snake. The home is the first corner property adjacent to a broken-up desert habitat within well-developed gated communities. They are 3x repeat removal customers and have snake fencing for the backyard.

8:30 PM		 Phoenix 85020 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowner called saying there was a rattlesnake curled up by his front door way. When I arrived several neighbors were huddled in the driveway. The home is situated on a cliffside adjacent to the Phoenix mountain preserve with lots of rock covering and nearby habitat. The rattlesnake was as described curled up behind a large pot near the front doorway. The homeowner expressed concern over his dog who alerted him of the snake, so I educated them on rattlesnake fencing and rattlesnake aversion training both of which they were very interested in.

9:00 AM		 Scottsdale 85255 Nightsnake The caller reported a small snake on the patio that her dog was barking at for some time. When I arrived the snake was under a plastic storage bin. The snakes mouth was agape and it was visibly not well. I placed the snake in shade and gave it cool water. I advised the client to remove slate rock pile on the side of the home and roofing tiles on the opposite side as well. The snake has not recovered but was released in hopes of pulling through.

11:30 AM		 Phoenix 85048 Southwestern Speckled Rattlesnake The homeowner called as they were servicing their tortoise water dishes in their tortoise pen in the back yard and noticed a white-ish Rattlesnake under the bowl so they called us for assistance with it. When I arrived they informed me the snake had moved into the shade of the nearby hose caddy. I went to the backyard tortoise pen and saw a beautiful large speckled Rattlesnake curled up under the hose caddy as claimed the snake was calmly transferred into the bucket where I then was able to hike up the nearby South Mountain trail away from any homes or buildings to release it into rocky cover. The home is situated in a neighborhood right up against the ideal habitat of the South Mountain Preserve.

12:30 PM		 Tucson 85704 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake This homeowner is no stranger to rattlesnakes, as she’s had several on her property in the past. She found this Western Diamondback Rattlesnake cruising along her fence in her backyard. When arrived, the snake was enjoying the shade in a prickly pair patch. I secured the snake and safely relocated it to a nearby wash and sent it down a rodent burrow- still within its native range, but far enough away to not be a problem for any other homeowners.

When I arrived I immediately observed a Western Diamondback rattlesnake, entirely missing its rattle, moving along some decorative cinder blocks. I was able to quickly remove the snake without incident. No other snakes were recovered during my inspection. The homeowner was strongly advised to remove the overgrown non-native grasses in the rear yard as well as any low lying bushes.

11:00 AM		 Phoenix 85020 Sonoran Gophersnake The snake was near a walk way by the pool at this resort. They thought it was a rattlesnake but it was just a gophersnake under a bush. The desert was a few feet away from this. The resort is built on a mountain side.

6:00 PM		 El Mirage 85335 Nightsnake The homeowner called us after spotting the tail end of a Nightsnake sticking out from under the garage door. They were not sure if it was dead and they did not want to check. When I arrived, I had her open the garage door and found that the head of the snake was stuck in a glue trap just inside of the door. I used a little vegetable oil and gently removed the snake from the trap. I searched the rest of the garage and did not find any additional snakes. This home was in El Mirage and not near any sort of healthy native habitat.

6:00 PM		 Phoenix 85028 Southwestern Speckled Rattlesnake Speckled rattlesnake in the court yard of building 16. The snake was hiding under a bush and the residents watched the snake till I arrived to pick it up.

10:00 AM		 Paradise Valley 85253 Kingsnake, Kingsnake The homeowner had a king snake removed from her backyard a few days ago, which was stuck in some bird netting. Then today she had another one stuck. It ended up being two king snakes both tangled in the bird netting. I was able to free them both with minor scale damage but after a few sheds, they will be like new. I think the snakes may have been going to the garden for the water. She also had a shed nearby with baby bunnies under it. She was cool enough to let the snakes stay in the back yard and when we released them in the pack rat nest a rat did come out. Which is why she wanted to keep the snakes. The home was right next to a golf course.

The home had two grassy parks by it and a desert mountainside across the street. The yard itself didn’t have too much cover a few plants out front and a shed in the back yard.

11:30 AM		 Scottsdale 85266 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Unit 68. This is a fence customer of ours. The snake was in the driveway and was accidentally run over. The snake did have some guts hanging out but was acting fine. I took the snake to the vet to receive care. Dr. Driggers took X-rays and no bones were broken. He stitched the snake back up and said to wait a few months before relocating.

2:30 PM		 Surprise 85387 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake During the call made to us, the customer had stated he was about to move his garbage bins from his backyard to the front yard when he started hearing a loud rattle and hissing noises. After backing up, he noticed the head peeking out behind the bin, but could not identify the species of rattlesnake or size. The customer had stated he was not comfortable being near the snake or watching it until arrival due to the location of the snake and its demeanor. However, upon my arrival, thankfully the snake was still located under/behind the bin in his backyard, was gently removed from the property, and properly identified as a healthy, adult Western Diamondback. After further inspection of the property, no more snakes were found and his yards was very open and well-maintained. It is assumed that the snake was most likely there because the layout of his house offered a nice cool, shaded area on the side of his backyard near his gate. It seemed to be a newer neighborhood as well with recent construction, and many desert plots surrounding the area where the snake likely originated from. The beautiful snake was driven out of the neighborhood and hiked into a desert plot, far away enough from any roads and residential areas. Once hiked into the desert, I carefully released the Diamondback into a large pack-rat hole under a large, shaded tree/shrub.

8:00 PM		 Mesa 85203 Longnosed Snake Homeowner in Mesa called about a snake in his garage. When I arrived I spotted the Longnose Snake stuck in a glue trap in a corner near the garage door. The seal on the garage was a bit worn out and had enough space for the small snake to enter even with the door closed. I was able to free the snake relatively easy and after adjusting his jaw he seemed just fine and ready to get back out into a better place.

1:30 PM		 Cave Creek 85262 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Large rattlesnake caught in netting around the garden. I was able to cut it out and evaluate for injuries. It looked to be recoverable, so I released it to suitable habitat.

8:00 PM		 Surprise 85374 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The customer had stated on the call that there was a juvenile rattlesnake on her front porch in the corner and had been coiled there for a decent amount of time, unsure of the species, but would watch it until my arrival. Upon my arrival, the snake had not moved and was identified as a baby western diamondback. The customer had stated this wasn’t their first snake call and had used our company in the past, as well as for our fencing for their backyard. The snake was most likely there due to recent construction in the neighborhood/suburban expansion and being pretty close to a desert preserve. Once the snake was removed from the property, I drove out of the community and parked on the side of a desert preserve. I hiked this juvenile into the preserve, walked down a wash a decent distance to ensure it wouldn’t find its way back to a street. I then released it into a pack-rat hole under some large shrub and it went in right away.

11:00 AM		 Tucson 85748 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake This homeowner called after she noticed her dog barking at something in the backyard. When she went outside to investigate, she saw a Western Diamondback Rattlesnake coiled in the corner. Thankfully, her dog alerted her of the unwelcome visitor. Thankfully the dog never got bit, but was quick to address the snakes presence. After a quick web search, she called us and I was on the road within minutes. When I arrived, the snake unfortunately moved from its original location. After some careful searching, I decided to look underneath a storage cabinet full of gardening tools. After carefully pulling each bottom drawer out, I found the snake coiled in a dark, cool corner underneath one of the shelves. I grabbed the snake, secured it in the bucket, and relocated it to a nearby wash into a deep rodent den.

It had come to rest/hide in a void in the cinderblock wall. I was unable to get an in-situ photo due to the low light in the void. No other snakes were recovered. I advised the client to trim the bushes and address the rodent activity to reduce attractiveness of the yard to reptiles.
