Phoenix | 85045 | Southwestern Speckled Rattlesnake | Snake was found by homeowner in their driveway when they went outside. By the time I had arrived it had made it's way into a wash directly next to the homeowners house and they had lost sight of it. After a short walk down the wash I was able to locate the snake and remove it from the property |

Phoenix | 85050 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | Received a call about a rattlesnake on a back patio. Customer’s daughter greeted me at the front door and escorted me to the back patio. Met with homeowner out there and she pointed to a futon against the side of a wall underneath patio. I observed an atrox in ambush between a small ceramic statue of a tortoise and a small one of a toad. I pulled the futon from against the wall and utilized tongs in attempt to capture. Snake turned out to be much bigger than I had thought and it quickly became defensive. It wedged itself between the statues and the eave of the stucco and it struck at my tongs several times. I eventually was able to capture and bucket it. Provided an inspection on back yard. Yard area sloped up towards the back wall. A fair bit of landscape plants but nothing really overgrown. Brick wall all the way around with only two entry points in the yard. Drainage hole on the NW side yard and a gate on the SE side yard. Gate would definitely have been easier for snake to get into and I suspect it came from here. Customer stated she has had a few snakes in the 11 years she has lived in the home but all were non-venomous and this was her first rattlesnake. This house would not have been on the top of my list for an atrox encounter. Immediate area has been fairly developed for some time. The closest habitat was a wash that cut through the neighborhood that connected wide open desert on either side of the neighborhood. The closest access point to the wash was about 3 blocks to the NW and the second nearest being another wash maybe 4-5 blocks to SE. I wasn’t able to get a definitive answer from customer about fence quote but it appears she checked the box for it. |

5:30 PM |
Phoenix | 85048 | Southwestern Speckled Rattlesnake | Homeowner called about a snake in her front courtyard, she was fairly certain that it was a rattlesnake. When I arrived, I discovered the speckled rattlesnake curled up beneath a large flower pot near her front entryway. There was a lot of shade and a large wash beside the house, so the snake was likely on the move this morning and found a place to stay out of the heat during the day. Snake released into a small cave in the side of a wash within home range and away from homes. |

Phoenix | 85083 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The homeowner called and said he had a snake in the backyard. The snake was coiled in a raised flower bed that had a mesh cloth over it and a drip system. The bed was about a foot and a half off the ground. He also had another garden bed nearby and dense rosemary bushes. The home had some desert around it and throughout the other homes. The community was surrounded by more desert hillsides. |

Phoenix | 85085 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The homeowner noticed the snake slithering on her back patio. She said it had slithered all over the backyard by the time I got there. While searching around, I found two rattlesnake skins under a storage bin up against the house—one adult, which could have been this snake, and one young rattlesnake. I flooded a hole under the bin, but nothing came out. The home backed up to a drainage area that led to more desert. |

8:30 PM |
Phoenix | 85045 | Southwestern Speckled Rattlesnake | Received dispatch about snake near front door of home. Arrived at the property and approached front doorway. Noted a pyrrhus in ambush on top of gravel facing towards front door. Utilized tongs to capture and bucket without incident. Customer stated she noticed the snake the previous day but that it retreated into a lantana near the door. When she noticed it tonight she called us. Performed inspection of back and front yards. Backyard mostly free of plant except for line of oleanders which lined the view fence on the west side of yard. Fence was on a high enough wall towards the back of the property but wall shortened down to approx 24” towards front. No fencing. Wash ran on the other side of fence and straight up the mountain. Pointed this out to customer. Offered free fencing quote and she declined. She asked about repellent and I provided education on how it did not work. |

11:30 PM |
Phoenix | 85050 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | Received a call about a rattlesnake in the backyard near a cactus. Arrived at the home, and the customers escorted me to the backyard. I noticed an adult atrox in ambush against a wall, just to the left of a clump of opuntia. I attempted to capture it using tongs, but the snake slipped out and escaped into the clump of opuntia. I asked the customer if I could remove paddles of the cactus, and they replied, “Please do.” I removed a large portion of the clump using my tongs and hook. The snake remained sheltered behind the large base mound of the cactus. I decided to use a hose to flood the area, and the snake eventually made its way out, where I captured it with tongs and bucketed it without incident. There were small strips of habitat nearby, but the home was fairly deep inside the neighborhood. The customers stated they have had gopher snakes before but never a rattlesnake. Given the size and age of the snake, I suspect it may have been eking out a living in the neighborhood for some time. The backyard had plenty of shade and drip irrigation. I pointed this out to the customer and provided education on snake behavior. Due to the location of the house within the neighborhood, suggesting fencing did not seem appropriate. The customer was insistent on paying by invoice. |

Phoenix | 85050 | Coachwhip | The homeowner called about a young coachwhip in his swimming pool. I removed the snake and conducted a quick search for others. The backyard had a view fence that opened up to a long drainage but had a good three- to four-foot drop down to the ground. The rest of the yard had very little to offer any snake. It was clean and wide open, with a small pool and almost no landscaping. He did request to be contacted about fencing. |

Phoenix | 85044 | Blacktailed Rattlesnake | Employees at Worldmark called to report a rattlesnake in the landscaping just outside of the main office. Phoenix | 85054 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The rattlesnake was in the backyard. There were very few bushes and very few entry points. Overall not good habitat. The snake may have wondered in through one of the two side gates, which were the only real possibilities. I advised possibly snake fencing to close the gaps at the fence but its a very small area so not a great candidate. The home owner said he may try to do it himself. |

Phoenix | 85054 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | A person called about a large rattlesnake inside a garage. He was moving some stuff around and discovered the snake curled up behind some boxes. Not sure how long the Western Diamondback was in this garage, but it definitely found a nice cozy hiding spot. I took the snake back into the nearby desert and placed it into the deep cover of a packrat nest that was along a wash. N Phx |

It was a mom and 4 babies. I was able to grab the four babies but never did see mom. There were some nooks she could have tucked away in. We placed some palo verde branches in the trench so that Mom could climb out when she comes out. The place is all wide open desert with lots of good habitat around. |

Phoenix | 85054 | Sonoran Gophersnake | The homeowner was cleaning up his front yard when he spotted the snake, which he thought was a rattlesnake. It was on his side yard, but moved to the front patio when I got there. It was a harmless Gophersnake, but it had an old injury and was missing its tail. This community is pretty new and is surrounded by desert and a lot of new builds are around. They have a view fence and one gate. |

Phoenix | 85045 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The homeowner called and said that her small dog alerted her to a rattlesnake on her back patio. Fortunately, she was able to get the dog inside without incident. The snake was sheltering underneath a grill when I found it. I did a search of the front and back yards but did not find any other snakes. There was 1 small drain opening in the block wall along the side of the yard, likely the entry point for the snake. The home was at the base of South Mountain but located several blocks away from any sort of decent habitat. |

Phoenix | 85024 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | Last night we were out at this house, and Maggie got a western diamondback from this backyard. Today, the homeowner, being a little on edge, went and looked around the backyard and saw another rattlesnake coiled up behind some stacked wood he had. This was a large male rattlesnake. I’m not sure what sex the rattlesnake was. Maggie got it, but he could have smelled the female if it were a female last night. His backyard was pretty clear, but he had stacked wood and Halloween decorations on the side of his yard, and that was where the snake was .This area has desert around it, but also has a lot of recent destruction for new homes. |

Phoenix | 85044 | Nightsnake | Homeowner called with a potential baby rattlesnake by the side gate/ front patio. The homeowner had two dogs and was scared that they might get bitten. After just a few minutes of searching around the side gate I noticed a very thin tail sticking out from underneath the side door of the garage. I was able to secure the desert nightsnake and relocated just off the trail in a heavily covered wash down the street. |

Phoenix | 85054 | Mojave Rattlesnake | This is a fence customer of our but the neonate rattlesnake was in her garage. It was coiled in the corner by the garage door on the inside. She had to leave to get the kids from school, and when she got back, it got stuck in the nearby sticky trap in the garage. I was able to get it out unharmed. The home backs up to a lot of state trust land. The seals on her garage door had big gaps in the corners. |

Phoenix | 85085 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The snake was coiled up by the front door. The owners had also seen another in the backyard the previous week. I searched the entire property for additional snakes and found nothing, but I did advise them that their snake fencing had gaps and was too loose in areas. They are interested in a snake fencing quote. |

Arrived to the complex and was lead to a parking garage on the far NW side of complex. Met a security guard who pointed out the snake. Utilized tongs to capture with no issue. Phoenix | 85085 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | Two separate western diamondbacks were on the property but outside of the area that has snake fencing. One was coiled up out in the open, and the other was deep in a bush. Both were taken and relocated to separate pack rat middens in a nearby wash. The home owners were advised to trim back the large bush that took 40 minutes of work to get the snake from. |

4:00 PM |
Phoenix | 85083 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake, Coachwhip | Was dispatched for a call about two possible snakes in a backyard. Arrived and met the customer, who escorted me into the backyard. The customer stated she noticed her dog barking and then saw two snakes, both of which scurried away once the dog began barking. Noted a neonate atrox behind a plastic flowerpot in the side yard on the west side of the property. Used forceps to capture it and placed it in a bucket. The snake was very defensive and struck the forceps several times. Upon inspection, it appeared the atrox had something stuck on the underside of its chin. Looking closer, the atrox’s jaw seemed dislocated, as it wouldn’t close entirely. The more I examined the head of the atrox, the more it seemed to have suffered some physical trauma. Began searching the rest of the side yard. As I moved a large plastic storage container away from the wall, I noted a coachwhip quickly dart back under the container. I was able to use tongs to capture the coachwhip and contain it in a second bucket. Inspected the rest of the yard, and no additional snakes were found. The customer is interested in dog training and a fence quote. The backyard is largely neat, with minimal places for a snake to seek refuge for long periods; however, the side yard where the snakes were found is largely shaded. There are some drainage holes on the western wall that lead to the wash running next to her house. The customer has a view fence, but it seems to be elevated high enough on a wall. I suspect both snakes entered through a small hole between the brick wall and the house, which is the closest access point from the wash. I’m certain the dog interrupted the coachwhip while it was attempting to eat the atrox. |

Phoenix | 85085 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | Received a call about two rattlesnakes on the edge of the community lawn at a concert being held at Fireside. Met the caller upon arrival, and she escorted me to the area. Approximately 200–300 people were at the event. The caller said both snakes had disappeared back into the desert. I located an adult atrox in ambush within a ring of Encelia, with a packrat nest situated on the north end of the ring. I captured the snake using tongs without incident. I pointed out the packrat nest to a staff member and encouraged them to have it removed. I searched for the other snake, making my way down into a wash that was part of the mountain preserve and unable to be landscaped. I was unable to locate the other snake. |

Phoenix | 85016 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake, Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The homeowner saw a large rattlesnake in his backyard late last night. It went under a cement slab in his backyard so he decided to leave it. Today, his pool guy was in the back by his pool equipment and saw two rattlesnakes. When I got there, they were locked up one really large male and an average size female behind the pool pump. The home is right in the desert and has a lot of boulders in their yard. I placed them in the same place on the mountain so hopefully they continue mating. |

11:00 PM |
Phoenix | 85054 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | Homeowner in Phoenix called about a rattlesnake in his garage. When I arrived, the Western Diamondback was curled up next to a cardboard box. Homeowner is not exactly sure how the snake got into the garage, it didn’t look like there were any obvious gaps or entry points. We came to the conclusion that the snake probably made its way in when the garage was open at some point, as the homeowner said they do tend to leave their garage open for long periods of time when they get home from school with their kids. I took the snake out into the nearby desert and released it into a large packrat nest alongside a small wash. |

Phoenix | 85085 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | They had some workers working in the community and they went in one of the electrical boxes and found two rattlesnakes. It was a male and a female rattlesnake. They were not locked up. There was a lot of desert surrounding this community across the street and behind the community. The lid was broken with half of it missing and that’s how the snake got in. They replaced it with a brand new lid before they left. |

Phoenix | 85085 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | W. L. Gore called about a rattlesnake curled up outside one of their office buildings. The western diamondback looked like he was tucked in for the night. There is a lot of construction going on in this area and a lot of the habitat that the snake likely used in the past is being flattened and developed. Because of this, I had to take the snake a little bit further away than I would like to, but I found it a nice spot of open desert and placed it into the deep cover of a packrat nest right next to a small rock pile. |
