A little Gila Monster was found in a backyard, and moved back to more familiar surroundings for everyone’s benefit. The homeowners had a great attitude about the little guy and wanted to make sure it got home safely.
These venomous lizards are protected, thankfully, but are still often killed by fearful people who believe silly stories about them running after people, “charging” at them, or other things that are somewhere between unbelievable to impossible. Misinformation might be fun for the attention-starved, but it can result in animals being killed and people being hurt. Just something to think about next time uncle Mike rolls out his favorite story of a gila monster chasing after his truck. It’s ok to tell him he’s full of it … he knows he is too 🙂
