Keeping Rattlesnakes Away From The Home

Keeping Rattlesnakes Away From The Home

On a recent property inspection service, Nick found this packrat midden. These structures, which just look like a pile of sticks and debris, are an insulated, safe opportunity for rattlesnakes. Especially in areas without abundant natural rock (much of Scottsdale and Cave Creek, for instance), packrat middens become important microhabitat for all kinds of wildlife, including rattlesnakes. All of this was discussed with the homeowner, so that the nest can be removed to reduce their chances of a rattlesnake encounter on the property.
