A homeowner in Laveen called around 7:00 p.m. after spotting a Western Diamondback Rattlesnake, but canceled the request just a few minutes later after losing sight of it. About two hours later, the snake reappeared, and she called back to let us know she had found it again.
Austin safely captured the rattlesnake and relocated it to suitable habitat within its estimated home range. The home backs directly up to a large desert hillside, making it likely the snake had wandered over from the adjacent preserve. It was released into a small cave along a large wash beneath a shady tree, providing excellent natural shelter and cover.
