From a recent property inspection: this is a rattlesnake waiting to happen. Some minor leaks combined with erosion of concrete between these decorative boulders make for numerous cool, deep hiding spots with higher ambient moisture than elsewhere in the area. During much of the summer, this is what rattlesnakes are looking for.
This was discussed with the property owner. Even if situations like this can’t be repaired or eliminated, it is still useful information to know that part of the property may have a higher chance of having rattlesnake visitors than others.
