This Coachwhip tried to find shelter inside the weep screed of a Phoenix home but ended up getting stuck in one of the small drainage holes instead. What was probably intended to be a quick hiding place turned into a situation the snake couldn’t get itself out of.
Mark spent about 40 minutes carefully working to free the Coachwhip without injuring it. After plenty of unsuccessful attempts, the snake finally came loose safely and appeared to be unharmed.
After its ordeal, Mark gave the Coachwhip a drink of water before relocating it outside the neighborhood into surrounding native desert habitat.
