8:30 PM		 Tucson 85742 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake This homeowner is no stranger to rattlesnakes, as she’s called us in the past to remove rattlesnakes at her old property. She called after her husband found a Western Diamondback sitting in ambush against the retaining wall in the backyard. This rattlesnake alerted the husband with its rattle before he even knew it was there. When I arrived, I secured the snake in the bucket and found a suitable nearby habitat to release the snake into. A deep rodent burrow underneath a dead Saguaro in a nearby wash ended up being the perfect spot, as I found another Western Diamondback sitting in ambush not too far away.

8:30 PM		 Phoenix 85041 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake During the call with this nice and seemingly calm customer, he had stated to me that upon bringing groceries into the house he had spotted a large, confirmed rattlesnake that was coiled up in a corner near his house in the front courtyard, after his first gate. Once arrived, I quickly captured this gentle giant without a fight or single rattle and proceeded to inspect the rest of the property. I noticed there was a small gap under the fence where this healthy rattlesnake most likely gained entry from the desert wash in his side-front yard to his courtyard. The customer also mentioned this was not their first rattlesnake and they often see wildlife which often come from the wash next to their property and the preserve behind them. Overall, the rest of the property was very well maintained with little sheltered spaces for the diamondback to hide or spots for entry besides the fence gaps. Furthermore, no other wildlife was found upon inspection and after being given some water, I hiked this male western back into the preserve, where it could live out the rest of its life peacefully away from residence.

10:30 AM		 Peoria 85383 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake A contractor at a new home build discovered a small rattlesnake on the side of the home in the shade under an AC drain line. The home was being built at a new golf course community not far from open, native desert. As always, I took a look around the rest of the property. The backyard was virtually empty. There was a pool, but no mature landscaping yet. There was a view fence with a very low footer separating the yard from the golf course. I did not find any other snakes, but I did leave our snake id/fence information behind for the homeowner when they move in.

6:00 PM		 Scottsdale 85259 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowner called after seeing a rattlesnake on the side of their home near the pool pump. This was a brand new fence client, however, the snake was not inside the fenced area. The side yard was an enclosed area between the house and a 5-foot-tall retaining wall. Access to the back yard from this area was through a newly snake-proofed gate, and a drain hole in the block wall to get to the front yard. This is also where the pool pump and equipment was located. When I first saw the snake, it was unsuccessfully trying to find a way into the backyard through the snake fencing. When it saw me, it retreated under the large, hollow base of the pool filter. It took almost an hour of constant running water to finally flush the snake out. The snake could have entered the area at any time from above the retaining wall, which was at ground level at the top, or through the drain in the block wall. There is also a chance the snake was hiding under the base of the pool filter the entire time. Based on the amount of time and water it took to remove, it would have been nearly impossible to know that a snake was hiding inside without actually witnessing it enter. No other snakes were found.

The rattlesnake was likely trapped in the backyard not knowing how to get back out because the gate in the drain were the only openings.

5:30 PM		 Tucson 85641 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake This homeowner called us after discovering a juvenile Western Diamondback Rattlesnake in her front yard. She’s no stranger to rattlesnakes, as I’ve removed several from this property before. When I arrived, the homeowner had already secured the snake in a tote bin. I removed the lid, grabbed the snake, and secured it in the bucket. The snake was released into a large rodent burrow in a nearby habitat that’s still within its native range.

The home was really close to a preserve with a lot of good habitat. The home had some heavier vegetation in the back yard but the front yard was pretty open.

4:00 PM		 Phoenix 85085 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Dispatched a call for a rattlesnake coiled back yard. Arrived at the property and was escorted to the backyard by the customer. The backyard was very small maybe 12ftx10ft. Noticed juvenile atrox in ambush against the wall of the home. Captured snake using tongs with no issue. I suspect the snake came from a neighboring yard and was stuck in the small sliver of shade it was in. The yard was completely bare and I don’t think the snake would have stayed. Offered a fencing quote but the customer declined.

The surrounding desert has been completely flattened and developed recently so its a miracle this little dude was surviving. No remaining desert around so I had to take him away from the area but hopefully that will give him a better chance of survival.

2:00 PM		 Scottsdale 85255 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowner had some painters at his house when one of them said he saw a rattlesnake in his backyard. They lost sight of it but I found it coiled under some stacked bricks not far from where they saw it. The home has a view fence and backs up to desert with some big boulders behind it that looked like perfect snake habitat.

9:30 PM		 Phoenix 85020 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Received a call about a rattlesnake on the side patio. Arrived at home and was greeted by the family who showed me where they had last seen the snake move. The family said they saw a snake go under a small go-kart with a fabric covering it. I moved the go-kart and observed a small atrox in ambush in some plant debris. Captured snake using tongs and bucketed it with no issue. Performed inspection of front and backyard. No other snakes were found. Large property but has mostly brick walls surrounding it with several gate access points. The family said they have a large dog. Offered a free fencing quote and they accepted. I suspect the snake was traveling through the neighborhood from a nearby wash. The customer also stated the neighborhood block has seen a lot of construction recently.

10:00 AM		 Phoenix 85050 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Caller reported a rattlesnake on the back patio. Upon arrival, the homeowner walked me to a kitchen window to show me the snake. I was able to immediately identify the snake as a large male Western Diamondback. The snake was currently in the process of ingesting what appeared to be a Gambels Quail. The snake had only consumed about 1/3rd of the bird. I was able to bucket both the snake and the bird without regurgitation. Upon inspecting the property, I noted a water feature at the pool comprised of large boulders, some of which offered a great deal of space in between with multiple thermal zones. Additionally, the yard has existing fencing, but it was done in a very poor and unprofessional fashion. The fencing is virtually useless. The client was advised of the problem areas and she has agreed to a fencing quote.

10:30 AM		 Phoenix 85044 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The complex is getting painted, and one of the painters almost stepped on a western diamondback that was coiled by an AC unit. The snake then went into a rodent hole going under the ac cement pad. I started to water it out. It took about 20 minutes for it to come out enough for me to grab it. It kept stopping to take a drink. The complex is built on South Mountain Preserve.

12:00 PM		 Scottsdale 85259 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowner called about a snake in the front courtyard. Upon my arrival the snake had already crawled into a fountain made of boulders. I ran water under the fountain until I could see the snake move, at which point he decided to crawl out for easy capture. The house is located in the foothills of the preserve with a very large wash located directly behind it and lots of access from the front of the house.

10:30 AM		 Cave Creek 85331 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake A family housesitting at a rural Cave Creek home called after seeing a rattlesnake on the property. The snake had moved into a shady area near the back porch by the time I arrived. This yard had landscaping that very closely matched the native desert surrounding the home. It was surrounded by an adobe wall but had several iron view gates that opened up to the large wash behind the property, making a seamless integration between the two. While searching for additional snakes, I found an Atrox shed under an artificial rock covering the pool equipment, and there were several other perfect caves in and among the large rocks surrounding the pool. Although I did not find any other snakes, I explained that there would almost certainly be more, as nothing was preventing them from entering, and there was no reason for them to exit once there.

7:30 PM		 Cave Creek 85331 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowner had seen the black and white bands entering some vines next to his back door. When I arrived, the snake was nowhere to be seen. After pulling the vines back and using a flashlight I found him about 4’ up in the vines just hanging out. It took awhile to make the capture but I was successful. The snake was given water and released into a packrat nest that sat on the edge of a wash.
