Utilized large tweezers to capture snake without incident. Performed brief property inspection and found no other snakes. Home was surrounded by habitat but had no type of fencing so did not feel appropriate to ask about rattlesnake fencing. Pointed out a couple of spots near home where bricks or wood were piled and provided education on snake behavior.

They just moved in a month ago, they were really worried because they have kids. I looked around and recommended trimming some plants up. They have a brick fence one gate and some drain holes.

When I got there she said it was a small black and white snake. They thought it went in a rodent box but I opened it and nothing. I searched around the near by vegetation and nothing. The facility sits on top of a hill that has a large wash below it.

They have had two other snakes the past couple weeks. I searched area but found only a baby coach whip which went on a burrow. Lots of round tail ground squirrel holes.

Point of entry is the iron gate, wants fencing. Large drainage culvert in front of house under driveway, I flooded it and nothing came out. Did a thorough inspection and found several holes throughout but no obvious den or rats nest

The gopher snake was very agitated, making lots of sound and rattling its tail, so it is very understandable why the homeowner assumed it was a rattlesnake.

Approx 18" mohave with strong rattle taper caught in a glue trap inside garage. Home surrounded on all sides by native desert.

2023-11-18 12:30 PM	Waddell	85355	Western Diamondback Rattlesnake	Arrived to customer’s home and was escorted to the back patio. Customer pointed out a small mini fridge that had not been used for some time and was unplugged. Customer said they saw snake the previous day and it was half sticking out from underneath fridge. The back of the fridge was facing towards me and there was 1/4” mesh attached to the lower back half presumably to keep critters out. After a few glances I noticed a large atrox in ambush in the corner of the fridge. Snake had perched itself on a bottom panel so it was not on the ground. So if I were to tip the fridge on its side, the snake would have tipped up with it. Used power drill to remove one side of the mesh. Since the snake was in a tight area where tongs would not have worked, I used the tongs to hold back the mesh while I used hook to retrieve and bucket the snake without incident. Customer stated they thought the snake they saw was bigger than the one I captured. Snake was docile and did not rattle. Did an inspection of backyard. Very big yard. At least an acre. Rural/agricultural area. Many areas in the yard where snakes can seek refuge or den. Woodpiles, garden areas, overgrown plants, trim piles, etc. Fencing would not be appropriate for yard. Provided customer with education on snake behavior and pointed areas I was most concerned with.

This is an old home and it has a basement. There was a hole on the outside of the stucco that allowed the rattlesnakes to get in. There ended up being two snakes, both snakes were coiled right by one another. He found two snakes skins further down the wall earlier. The home has nothing but miles of desert around it.

The guy doing the work opened the door and instantly got rattled at. He dropped his things and got out of there. When I walked in the snake did rattle and then I saw it on a near by shelf about eye level. The snake had shed its skin down there and was probably getting cozy for winter. The home had a lot of desert around it and plenty of places on the property for a snake to hide, like a workshop that wasn’t sealed well and lots of stacked debris.

She tried watering it out but it didn’t show its face again. Today she was watering it out again and she saw a head poke out and it ended up being a gophersnake so she kept that one. We never did see the sidewinder. She has a large acre lot but there isn’t any vegetation on it. She does have a shed and shipping container in the back yard that I looked under as best I could. The fence is all mesh around the yard.

Arrived on site and investigated the area mentioned by the customer who called. Upon arrival, several neighbors arrived and informed me the snake was spotted at another location in the neighborhood which was announced on next door I drove to that location and inspected the entire green belt area. During the inspection, the adult son of the person who spotted the snake informed me that what was actually spotted was a large palm leaf blowing across the road at 2 pm today. Informed HOA president that we offer free identification and that if the “snake” is spotted again, to contact our hotline directly and watch it which will be relayed on the same forum
