The snake was in a defensive position the whole time I think the dog really freaked it out. Near the snake some of the patio got uplifted by the roots of a nearby tree this could of been where the snake was hanging out before it came out for some sun. It is really cold out so I doubt the snake was just out in the open like it was for long. They have a big yard with brick all around. A few drain holes and gates.

Yearling speckled rattlesnake from last year‘s newborns found on side of house approximately two hours after a very tall and old Yucca tree fell down in neighbors yard. After inspecting the Yucca tree, roots were completely rotted causing the tree to fall over, but before the tree fell over it seems that there were many hollow pockets between tree roots and under the tree. I suspect that the speckled rattlesnake was living within the rotting roots of the tree, and came out when the tree fell over. The first rattlesnake that homeowners have seen on the property

3:00 PM		 Phoenix 85028 Southwestern Speckled Rattlesnake Speck found on shaded area affect porch on tile, staying cold during the hot part of the day. Snake likely fell into the backyard through swing fence, as the property backs up to the preserve. Property could benefit from fencing, has been a fence that goes all the way around the backyard as well as a large back gate and a drainage hole by the pool. Snake likely fell into backyard over block wall and was unable to get out on its own. Landscaping was a little messy, and lots of debris around the property, but other than for a few hiding places nothing else seems to be attracting the snake to the property, no signs of rodent, no leaking water.

He ran the snake over I’m not sure if it was on purpose or not but then the snake went into his garage. He thought the snake was a five-foot rattlesnake. It was a 3-foot gopher snake. The snake has some scales missing on the side from being run over but it seemed ok.

1:30 PM		 Phoenix 85028 Tiger Rattlesnake The tiger was coiled by the front door. The homeowner saw it sleeping so he tried to kill it with this heavy metal pole. He missed and woke the snake up. Then he ran away but let the pole stay on the snakes tail pinning it there. The snake may have broken a few bones but it seemed to be moving just fine when I released it. The home is located right by Phoenix mountain park.

2:00 PM		 Phoenix 85028 Sonoran Gophersnake Homeowner called about an unknown snake under some patio furniture. Upon arrival I determined that it was a Sonoran Gophersnake. Yard was well kept and home backs up to a small wash so snake was most likely waiting out the heat of the day in the shade before moving on again. Snake was taken to better habitat in the preserve and placed into deep cover under a palo verde tree in a wash.

9:00 PM		 Phoenix 85028 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake I received a call about a rattlesnake in a back yard in which RS had installed fencing under a year ago. Checked out and confirmed property was still under warranty. Arrived at property and was escorted to backyard. Customer’s had two big dogs both of which were caged when I arrived. Customer stated one of the dogs found the snake which the customers then saw the snake at the bottom of the stairs of the pool on the south side of property. When I arrived snake was crawling on the east side of the yard moving north toward a side yard. Snake was a sizable male atrox. Snake began rattling and postured until I captured it using tongs. Snake struck at tongs. Bucketed snake with no issue but snake struck towards the lid as I closed it. The snake did not stop rattling during the entire encounter and was heard still rattling as I left the release site. Did an inspection of the entire backyard and fence line. No other snakes found in yard. Fence line seemed good except for one small hole with wire running through in drainage hole on west side of yard. Customer states the person who installed that wire did cut the mesh. After inspecting the cut with wire running through I am confident that there was no way the snake I captured would have been able to fit through the hole. I’m fairly certain not even a neonate could fit through the hole as any gaps were less than 1/4”. Customer stated that there has been workers doing projects in the backyard recently but did not know if they proper gate open. I implored customer to inform the workers to watch the gate and not prop it open unattended. Customer agreed. I decided not to charge relocation fee. I’m aware that modifications void the warranty but I am certain the snake could not possible have entered through the modification. I informed the customer that someone from the fence team would contact them. Customer agreed.

The front and back yards had extensive plants of various heights with drip systems. I searched the entire property for additional snakes and found none. Rattlesnake fencing would not be viable for this yard as the walls are incomplete and some portions open to the desert.

The young speckled rattlesnake was found curled up and never moved or made a sound during the removal. The home was located in the foothills of a mountain range.

5:00 PM		 Phoenix 85028 Coachwhip,Coachwhip The homeowner called about two pink slender snakes that were underneath some debris in their backyard. When I arrived, the Coachwhips had separated with one remaining in the same spot and the other on the side of the yard under some roof tiles. Both were a relatively easy catch as far as this species goes. Home is a few streets in from the small mountain range nearby but not too far for a Coachwhip to travel. Likely a mating pair as well, one male and one female. The yard had some minor improvements to be made as far as trimming bushes and discarding debris but nothing crazy. Both side gates had gaps that the homeowner will address via our fencing team.

It rattled and slithered under a nearby bush. Her home is bordered by the preserve on two sides, just across the street. The yard had some vegetation here and there, but I think the snake was there because of the proximity to the preserve.

8:00 AM		 Phoenix 85027 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake An employee at a warehouse called after seeing a rattlesnake near some stacked-up pallets. By the time I arrived, the snake had moved into the shade of a large trailer. The warehouse was adjacent to Deer Valley Airport. The only small patch of native habitat nearby was part of the airport and not accessible to me. Nobody that I talked to at the facility had ever seen a snake on the property before. I had to drive down the road a little over a mile before I got to a patch of state trust land where I could release the snake.
