Buckeye 85396 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The rattlesnake was seen under a bush by the drive way. There was a smooshed blood trail in the driveway which wasn’t from the snake. The snake had a bolus. It seemed like the snake had killed something and the gentleman’s husband ran over the meal when he left for work, then the snake ate the meal and settled under the bush.

Buckeye 85396 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake, Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Was dispatched a call about a rattlesnake by front door for the past few days. Arrived at home and approached front door where I noticed young adult atrox in ambush in the corner of entryway. I then noticed another large adult atrox behind a planter pot around the corner from the entryway. Used tongs to capture first atrox. Snake struck my tongs twice as I captured it. Used tongs again to capture second atrox and bucketed without incident. Performed inspection of the rest of the front yard and backyard. Customer stated she had not noticed the larger atrox at all and believes it may have arrived after the smaller one. No other snakes were found, but I did find a deceased gamble’s quail in the backyard. Backyard had RS fence installed earlier in the summer. Both snakes came from the wash which ran to the north behind and to the east of home. I suspect one of the snakes, perhaps the larger one, may have been in pursuit of the quail which had gotten into the backyard. Thankfully the fence worked and kept both rattlesnakes out.

Buckeye 85396 Sidewinder This is a fence customer of ours. He went to clean out the skimmer when he noticed the baby sidewinder inside. The snake had found a way to stay above the water and was safe. The snake seemed to get in through a wall gap that needed more cement. This is a new community built in the open desert next to the white tanks.

Buckeye 85396 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake A rattlesnake was reported by the pool equipment. The pool service technician had seen it coiled there but left. I arrived and found one Western Diamondback in the same position the pool technician reported. The pool filtration system was leaking heavily, creating standing water where the snake was taking shelter. After securing the smaller snake, I inspected further and found a larger adult also sheltering beneath the filtration system. I captured the second snake and verified that no others were present. I informed the customer about the standing water issue attracting snakes and that additional snakes may visit the area. The customer is currently out of town.

Benson 85602 None Derek originally talked to this customer, but was unable to do the inspection, due to his being out of town. Customer was bitten and envenomated by a young, probable Western Diamondback, last week. Was doing some work on the front of the house, and was bitten in the right hand by a rattlesnake hiding in the weeds and grass. Snake was most likely near its winter retreat, and has quite possibly left to forage. Ironically customer had killed a large adult shortly before suffering his bite. Not a candidate for fencing, but educated him on snake safety and on how to reduce sightings by cleaning up debris.

Avondale 85339 Coachwhip The homeowner was having trouble with her dryer so she pulled it out to inspect it. When she took the tube off the back she could see a snake sticking out. The snake was a coachwhip and its bottom half was stuck on something in the dryer. I’m not sure if by her turning it on made it get tangled but it appeared to have a broken back and I’m not sure it’ll survive. This was a three-foot snake, and the vent on the outside of the home was on the ground, and the cover fell off. That’s how it got in. There was a lot of desert surrounding this house.

Avondale 85339 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Homeowner in Laveen called about a rattlesnake in her garage. When I arrived, the snake was nowhere to be found. Began moving stuff around and was able to locate the snake underneath an old bed frame. The young Western Diamondback was a long way from home as this area is mostly developed at this point and has very little survivable habitat. I took the snake a few miles away and found a nice little cave in the side of a small drainage where it should have a much better chance of surviving.

Arizona City 85123 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake I went to this home yesterday for an inspection because there dog had been bitten by a rattlesnake the night before. I did not find the snake yesterday but they had a big shed in the back yard which I suspected the snake retreated to. There was no seeing or even being able to get the snake out from under the shed with it intact. Today they decided to take down the big shed and under the floor board the snake was coiled up. There was a snake skin under there and a large rodent hole. I flooded out the hole and no one else came out. The home only really had this shed for cover in the yard. This community has a lot of natural desert surrounding it.
