Cave Creek | 85331 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | Homeowners called with rattlesnake in backyard. They had installed their own rattlesnake fencing, which was done fairly well, but had a few gaps. Their dog was in the backyard, which is what alerted them to the snake. Luckily they were able to get the dog inside before he was bitten. The snake unfortunately, curled up under a gigantic backyard umbrella with 400 pounds of sand in the base. But after some strategic thinking, we were able to tilt the umbrella over and grab the snake. The western diamondback was then released off of a nearby trail into a pack rat midden. |

Cave Creek | 85331 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The homeowner had just got home from being away for a few weeks. He was picking some things up in his back yard when he lifted a bag and a rattlesnake was under it. The rest of the yard didn’t have anything for the snake to hide under. They backed up to some desert with even more a little further down the road. |

Cave Creek | 85331 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | Received a call about a baby rattlesnake on back patio. Arrived and customers escorted me to the back patio and pointed out the snake. Noticed a neonate atrox in ambush against the door of a patio chair. Snake had 2 segments and was able to rattle and did so briefly. Customers stated they heard it the night before but was alerted to it tonight by an indoor can seeing it through the glass door. Used oversized tweezers to capture and bucket with no incident. Inspected the backyard. Large yard with wash bordering to the south. Back wall had view fence but was on a reasonable high brick wall. Not sure an adult could enter through here but a neonate certainly couldn’t. Side yard on the east side of property had drainage holes and side yard on the west side had large gate. If I had to guess based on where the snake was on the patio I’d say it came in through the east. Large backyard that was well maintained but had a few areas of concern. The customer had a big woodpile behind the fireplace. Inspected it and no snakes. Large Agave americana towards the west end of the yard that had numerous dead offshoots around the base making it easy for snakes to hide but hard for humans to access. Pointed both of these out to the customer. Customer stated it’s the first rattlesnake they’ve seen on the property in 4 years they’ve lived there. Offered a free fence quote and they obliged. No other snakes found. |

Cave Creek | 85331 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The homeowner called about a rattlesnake in his garage. Another removal service had been called out a week prior and was unable to find it. He attempted to call them back out but was told that they were "closed for the season". When I arrived, the snake was no longer where it was last seen about an hour prior. The garage, like many, was packed full of miscellaneous clutter and it was difficult to know where to start. As I started removing items, I noticed that there was also a very significant rodent population that had been occupying the space for quite some time. In one corner, I found an old, shed skin. Several minutes later found the snake under a pile of scrap wood, frightened and doing its best to not get evicted from what was going to be an amazing winter home. |

Cave Creek | 85331 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The homeowner noticed the rattlesnake half way through some chicken wire she had on her view fence. She said it was struggling to get out but couldn’t make it. When I pulled up, the snake was almost dead from being in direct sunlight, and it was 84 degrees. The snake was limp. The homeowner was trying to shade it and put water in it. I cut it free and placed it in my bucket with cool water to bring its body temperature back down. I let it hang out in bucket for awhile to gather its strength back. When I relocated it the snake was striking and had came back to life. |

Cave Creek | 85331 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The homeowner called about a rattlesnake resting next to the side of her home. I arrived and found that the snake had not moved and then captured it. The home is situated in the middle of a neighborhood but has a wash running just behind the property. There is a lot of landscaping in the backyard, but it looked very well maintained. There were several plants however that needed to be cut back to expose the ground below. The home also has snake fencing that was there when the current owners moved in. I searched but did not find any record of us installing a fence at that address. The fence was in decent shape but compromised in several places. The homeowner was very concerned about the snake and wanted to be contacted about a fencing consultation soon as she has several dogs. |

Yard is about 50% view fence, 1 flood hole seen, and 1 side gate. Really nice guy from Ohio. Has been here 6 years and has had his first 2 snakes this week. |

Cave Creek | 85331 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The homeowner was doing yard work in the front yard when he saw a rattlesnake coiled by his yucca. He pushed it out of his yard but then it just sat in the road and he thought it may get hit by a car so he called to have it relocated. The snake was ok thankfully. The snake was coiled under a plant right by this guys garage and the garage had gaps in it. I believe it was hibernating in the garage and came out on a nice day. The home had a bunch of state trust land across the street. |

Cave Creek | 85262 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The homeowner saw this baby rattlesnake coiled up to the left of the front door. Given the temperature was in the 60’s the snake was rather lethargic and easy to capture. I held on to the snake overnight as I was not familiar with the area and wanted to hike it to its new home in the daylight. Released into a packrat nest in its estimated home range. |

Cave Creek | 85331 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | A few weeks ago, I got a call from a gentleman who was having work done on his hot tub in the backyard. The hot tub guy saw two rattlesnakes at the entrance of the door going into the hot tub. One slithered to the back before I got there but I was able to grab one. A few days later the homeowner said the snake was at the entrance of the hot tub again. Maggie went but she wasn’t able to snag it before it slithered into the back again. Then a few weeks passed and he finally saw it at the entrance again today. I was able to grab it. The home backs up to some desert and the community has a lot of desert near by. |

Cave Creek | 85331 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | Homeowner called about a rattlesnake in his garage. When I arrived, the western diamondback was curled up in the corner closest to the garage door just beside a shelf. The homeowner did say that he had his garage open for a little bit yesterday, so it is very likely that with the warm and wet weather we have had, the snake could’ve been hanging out around the outside of the house and snuck in, or it has been here for weeks. No way to be sure. I took the snake across the street and released it into the deep cover of a large packrat nest underneath a Palo verde tree. Cave Creek. |

The garage did have gaps underneath that the snake could fit under. The home had a drainage behind it that led to the open desert. |

Cave Creek | 85331 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | This is a fence customer of ours. They contacted the hotline with a report of a snake climbing into the yard over the snake fencing (installed by RS 6yrs ago). The customer provided an image that was confirmed to be a western diamondback. Upon arrival, the snake was stretched between a bougainvillea bush and the inner perimeter wall. The snake was captured without incident. Upon inspection of the exterior perimeter wall and fencing, it is safe to conclude the snake utilized rogue branches that had penetrated the perforations of the fencing. The client and Jonathan walked the fence and clipped the branches protruding through. In addition, a thorough inspection was done and no additional snakes were located. A hole was observed on the far side of the home in the drainage cinder block, likely caused by someone pushing a hose through it to the front yard. |

Behind the library is miles of state trust land. |

Cave Creek | 85331 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake, Western Diamondback Rattlesnake, Western Diamondback Rattlesnake, Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | This is the neighbor but she said her next-door neighbor has 4 rattlesnakes in the yard. When I arrived, I found four rattlesnakes in the middle of the hot ground in the road with the neighbor corralling them with a long tool of some sort. Captured the snakes quickly before they died in the heat. Attempted to check the yard, but was not really able to in a meaningful way due to the insistence of the neighbor that he had already. Reasonable likelihood that there are more rattlesnakes back there. Left my phone number and information for that event. |

Cave Creek | 85331 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | This is a fence customer of ours but the snake was by his front door. The homeowner saw the baby diamondback stuck to a sticky trap that he had by his front door. The snake was ok and I was able to free it unharmed. He said he gets a lot of snakes and lizards in these traps by his front door. I recommend that he not keep the traps in this area because it is a high-traffic area and he is going to keep catching critters. The homeowner has some desert sections behind and beside his home and throughout the community. |

Cave Creek | 85262 | Coachwhip | Wonderful couple who lives part time in Scottsdale called because they had a coachwhip and a rattlesnake in their garage. The rattlesnake they usually coexist with but they are having company next week and wanted it removed for this reason. The coachwhip was found in the garage. The rattlesnake was unable to be found after checking the garage, side yard, and backyard unfortunately. They were given education about possibly getting their garage scorpion proofed so they do not find snakes within the garage area anymore but they are okay with them in their backyard as they have no kids or dogs. |

Cave Creek | 85331 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | Homeowners were spending the weekend cleaning out their garage. He was carefully taken down and relocated into a natural desert area. |

Cave Creek | 85331 | Sonoran Gophersnake | The homeowner said they saw a rattlesnake slither across their back patio into a lantana bush. I searched the lantana and saw a Gophersnake inside. It was very dense, so I wasn’t able to grab it right away, and then it disappeared into the bush. There were a few holes under the bush and around the bush, so I started watering those out, but it never did come out. They were OK with leaving it since it wasn’t a rattlesnake. I searched the rest of the yard and did not find any rattlesnakes. They have a block fence with two gates and a gated courtyard. They are surrounded by good desert habitat next to their home. |

Cave Creek | 85331 | Sonoran Gophersnake | The homeowner called about a rattlesnake that she saw in her side yard hiding behind her trash cans. It turned out to be a Sonoran Gophersnake, which she wanted removed regardless. This home in Cave Creek was near a golf course and had a view fence overlooking a narrow drainage, and had chicken wire about 24inches high, installed along the base. She explained that it was never meant to keep snakes out, but to keep her 3 young beagles in. The backyard was well-manicured with landscaping and a pool. The front had two very tall, dense lantanas. I captured the snake and looked for others but did not find any. The homeowner is very interested in a fencing quote as well as getting a dog training refresher. |

Cave Creek | 85331 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The homeowner was working from her office when she spotted this adult western diamondback hanging out in her office. She said she had seen a snake in her garage within the past day and assumed this is the same one. I offered to check out the garage and laundry room but she declined. Typically, these indoor rattlesnakes turn out to be night snakes or gophers so seeing this adult western diamondback was a surprise. Relocated south of the property into a packrat nest surrounded by bushes and a tree. |

Cave Creek | 85331 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | Received a call about a rattlesnake on the front porch of the customer’s neighbor’s home. The customer indicated the person living in the home was elderly and out of town. The customer also indicated they would like to pay for removal even though it was not their property. Arrived at the home, and the customer’s son was watching the snake with a flashlight. I observed an adult atrox in ambush beneath the eave of the front facade (eastward-facing) and tucked behind an aloe. Used a hook to move aloe leaves out of the way and tongs to capture the snake. Once I had the snake captured with tongs I used two hands in the tongs to safely bucket it. I then performed a quick inspection of the front yard and also the front yard of the caller. I noted a juvenile Sonoran gophersnake under the eave of their home and provided education on it. The customer opted to leave it. No other snakes were noted on either property. |
