10:00 AM		 Scottsdale 85266 Sonoran Gophersnake The homeowner had recently drained their pool and was in the process of refilling it when they saw the head of a snake poke out from an inlet at the bottom of the pool. As the water started to fill up the snake would move out further keeping its head above water. When I arrived, the gopher snake was most of the way out of the inlet and was captured and relocated into a nearby wash. The homeowner had a homeowner install snake fencing on their full-view fence with gaps in multiple places. The yard itself had plenty of low plants that any snake would enjoy.

7:00 PM		 Glendale 85310 Sonoran Gophersnake Client called with a report of an aggressive snake on the front porch. Upon arrival, the snake was immediately identified as a Sonoran Gophersnake. In true Gophersnake fashion, it was aggressively hissing and striking. I was able to contain the snake without incident. A courtesy inspection of the front and rear yards was completed. Client was provided with advice on reducing desirability for snake activity. ie - trim large lantanas, eliminate potted plants near the entry way and keep items of the ground in the rear yard.

The snake fencing was not very effective, at the very least, because there was no fencing put on the sides or below the gate entering the back yard. While snake fencing doesnt prevent gophersnakes, the homeowner was very interested in having proper snake fencing for rattlesnakes installed throughout the yard. She asked for advice about preventing gophersnakes and kingsnakes from entering her yard and I explained how she could change her landscaping but that if it stays the same it provides great habitat, and also that they are harmless!

I personally think it was due to a neighbor's domesticated cat but unclear cause of death. She is a previous customer and she said she is currently getting rattlesnake fencing bids to be installed by us.

9:30 AM		 Apache Junction 85120 Sonoran Gophersnake The homeowner called about a snake that slithered into a cactus in her backyard. She thought it was a rattlesnake because it did rattle. When we got there, we discovered it was a harmless gopher snake. She was cool enough and let us relocate the snake in her yard. She lived on 2.5 acres and had some natural desert all around her house. There were a few pack rat nests on the property and she had chickens but she didn’t have a fenced yard it was all open.

8:30 AM		 Phoenix 85085 Sonoran Gophersnake The crew at a water treatment facility in North Phoenix called about a rattlesnake on the property. It turned out to be a Sonoran Gopher snake, but the crew thought that it would be safer for the snake to be relocated. I looked around the rest of the facility, which had a ton of great cover. There were piles of large rocks, stacks of pallets and PVC pipe, and several con-ex structures that had exterior doors left open. There is virtually no barrier preventing any snake from the adjacent native desert from entering or exiting the property at will. No additional snakes were found.

11:00 AM		 Cave Creek 85331 Sonoran Gophersnake The homeowner called about a rattlesnake that she saw in her side yard hiding behind her trash cans. It turned out to be a Sonoran Gophersnake, which she wanted removed regardless. This home in Cave Creek was near a golf course and had a view fence overlooking a narrow drainage, and had chicken wire about 24inches high, installed along the base. She explained that it was never meant to keep snakes out, but to keep her 3 young beagles in. The backyard was well-manicured with landscaping and a pool. The front had two very tall, dense lantanas. I captured the snake and looked for others but did not find any. The homeowner is very interested in a fencing quote as well as getting a dog training refresher.

8:00 PM		 Scottsdale 85254 Sonoran Gophersnake Small rattlesnake back patio. Husband wants to kill it. Wife says hurry. Didn't charge, wife wanted to keep the gophersnake but husband didn't. Call was super close to home, gave some education and relocated the snake to a nearvy greenspace.

This home was situated in a typical Peoria neighborhood, with many small drainages running throughout. He told me that he usually gets one or two Gophersnakes per year, but never any rattlesnakes. The snake likely came in through one of the block drains or under the gap under the gate.

3:30 PM		 Scottsdale 85258 Sonoran Gophersnake The homeowner called about a non-venomous snake in a wood pile in the backyard. When I arrived the snake had just gone back under the wood. As we were moving the wood the gophersnake came out and I snagged it. The yard did have some heavy vegetation and citrus trees. Along with some wood and junk piles. The home had a drainage area next to it that led straight to the reservation.

10:30 AM		 Cave Creek 85331 Sonoran Gophersnake The homeowners saw what they thought was a rattlesnake slither behind a stack of firewood in their backyard. It ended up being a Sonoran Gophersnake but they still asked that I relocate it. This home was in a Cave Creek neighborhood near a golf course. It had a lot of landscaping, a pool, and a large firewood pile. There was not a lot of easy access in or out of the yard other than from the gap under the large double-doored gate. The homeowners were interested in having the fence team give an estimate to seal this gap as they have had a rattlesnake in the pool filter in the past.

9:00 AM		 Cave Creek 85331 Sonoran Gophersnake 2 snakes were called in. The snakes did separate, so the homeowner could not watch both, but knew their general areas. I found the adult in some lantana in their side yard. There was apparently a baby with it that went into the desert area next to their home but I could not find it. Spent time educating on coexisting in the future and that we are available 24/7 to identify a snake for them via the hotline and texting a photo. They never plan to fence their property.

11:00 PM		 Phoenix 85044 Sonoran Gophersnake Received a call about a snake in a garage. The customer stated the snake had been in the garage for over a week. The customer bought snake repellent online and admitted it must not have worked well. The customer texted me a picture and I confirmed it was a Sonoran gopher snake. Arrived at the home and was met by the customer outside of her garage. She pointed out the snake that was under a shoe rack against the back wall of the garage. Captured a snake with my hands with no issue. Snake was a medium-sized juvenile. Inspected the rest of the garage no other snakes found. Inspected the garage door seal and it seemed in good shape. I suspect the snake made its way into the garage at some point when it was open.

Upon arrival I was able to determine that it was a gopher snake, and it was very deceased. It was already full of maggots and falling apart. I reluctantly scooped up as much as I could of it and put it in my bucket to dispose. No other snakes were removed.

3:30 PM		 Anthem 85086 Sonoran Gophersnake The client called with a report of an unknown snake that was seen entering a PVC pipe by the pool equipment. I was able to see the head of the snake when I arrived and confirmed it was a Gophersnake. With the assistance of the homeowner, we were able to effectively push the snake out of one end of the pipe. No other snakes were recovered during inspection. The homeowner has some existing fencing installed by the previous homeowner, but he would like to have the fencing team out to fix some holes in the existing fencing.

10:30 PM		 Litchfield Park 85340 Sonoran Gophersnake The homeowner was alerted by his dog barking at something outside. While investigating, he heard a distinct rattling coming from under an old nightstand that had been sitting near the front porch for some time. He was convinced it was a rattlesnake and called us right away. I arrived a short time later and lifted the nightstand to find a very large, hissing gophersnake. Although not the rattlesnake that he thought it was, the homeowner still wanted the snake removed from the property. This home sat on the outskirts of Litchfield Park and was not in a developed neighborhood. The White Tank Mountains and State Trust land were a short distance just to the west. On the property, there were a lot of items like car parts, tires, and old appliances scattered about, making for a lot of great hiding spots. I searched the entire property but did not find any additional snakes.

10:00 AM		 Surprise 85387 Sonoran Gophersnake The homeowner called about two gophersnakes in his front yard. By the time I had arrived, one had moved around to the side of the home just off of the property. The other stayed still near the walkway between the driveway and the front door. The home was located on the western edge of a brand-new development with lots of native desert just beyond the property line. I was able to capture both and then do a quick search but did not find any other snakes. Unfortunately, I was unable to sex the snakes so I can't be sure if it was a mating pair, two stubborn males, or just a chance encounter.

7:30 AM		 Phoenix 85048 Sonoran Gophersnake homeowner called stating that what appeared to be a rattlesnake was curled up in the backyard and the family dog alerted them of it. When I arrived they had determined it did not have a rattle, and when I went into the back yard I could see that it was infact a gopher snake stretched out along the block wall of the back yard. I picked up the snake and secured it in the bucket for relocation. The home is located in a developed community but right along a prime wash connected directly to the south mountain preserve.

1:00 PM		 Litchfield Park 85340 Sonoran Gophersnake The homeowners had a potted plant in a shaded area of their back porch. In addition to a large house plant, the planter also contained a quail nest with eggs. The homeowner was checking on the eggs and was surprised to find that a small Gophersnake had made itself at comfortable right on top of the eggs. I carefully removed the snake and found that all of the quail eggs remained intact. This home was located in the far west valley, not far from White Tank Mountain. The homeowners were working on a landscaping project and had a lot of new, well irrigated plants. I was told that the back gate normally stays closed but had been left open frequently during the project. There were also narrow gaps about every 10 feet along the block wall large enough for a small snake to easily fit through. I searched the rest of the property but did not find any other snakes.

8:00 PM		 Phoenix 85048 Sonoran Gophersnake Homeowner called about an unknown snake in on of their backyard planters. When I arrived, the Sonoran Gophersnake was just poking his little head out from behind a large pot. Belly full of eggs, he likely raided a small nest that was in the planter. Home is close to the base of South Mountain and has a small drainage behind it and a small hill at the end of the street. Yard was very well kept and maintained but did have gaps in the side gate so the snake likely found his way in through there. I took the snake to a nearby park that bordered a large patch of desert and released snake into a deep rodent hole under a massive shady Mesquite tree.

5:30 PM		 Phoenix 85085 Sonoran Gophersnake The caller reported a snake stuck in a glue (death) trap inside the garage. Upon arrival, it was clear this was a beautiful Gophersnake the snake’s head was firmly glued to the trap. With the help of aerosolized cooking spray, I was able to quickly dissolve the glue preventing the snake from moving. No other snakes were recovered.

12:30 PM		 Surprise 85387 Sonoran Gophersnake The homeowner and fence client called us about possibly having two rattlesnakes in a fenced in area on the property. The home doubles as a private daycare and there were lots of young children present. The area that the snake(s) was seen was a fully fenced in playground, which was not occupied at the time. When I arrived, there was some debate among the individuals present as to how many snakes were actually seen and if they were indeed rattlesnakes. An employee was able to show me a picture that she took and it was a gopher snake. I was later told that the individual that took the picture first saw the snake in one part of the playground, left for a short time, and when she returned the snake had moved. She assumed that she had seen two different snakes. After taking a picture of the snake, she watched it disappear into a rodent hole near the snake fencing. There were holes on the outside of the fence as well, and the homeowners were hopeful that the snake was now gone. I ran a hose to the hole outside of the fence and began to fill it with water. A short time later, the gopher snake emerged from the hole inside the fence. After the capture, I ran the water in all of the additional holes outside of the fence, but nothing ever came out. I made sure to check around the property for more snakes. There was a lot of clutter mostly consisting of toys and equipment for the daycare, but also a lot of tools and landscaping items. I did not find any additional snakes, but there was plenty of shaded structure, irrigation for landscaping, and likely an abundance of food based on the rodent holes and large numbers of quail nearby. I took a lot of pictures of the fence and sent them off to the fence team.

2:30 PM		 Phoenix 85048 Sonoran Gophersnake The homeowner went to get two bunnies out of the pool that had drowned. When he was outside he saw a snake tail coming out of a bush. On the outside of the bush was mom bunny and another baby bunny. He went inside because he doesn’t care for snakes. When I got there the gophersnake was on the back patio and I saw mom bunny close by. The snake had a bolus which must have been a baby bunny. The home has a little desert behind it and a lot more across the street. The homeowner had a shed in the back yard that he said had more bunnies under it.

3:30 PM		 Mesa 85207 Sonoran Gophersnake Caller reported a Gophersnake stretched along the home’s exterior wall. The snake remained between the wall and the cinderblock perimeter wall. I was able to reach in and grab the snake from the void. No additional snakes recovered.

3:30 PM		 Anthem 85086 Sonoran Gophersnake A tenant at an apartment complex called saying that he had seen two rattlesnakes in a common area near the front of his building. I arrived to find the man standing in front of a small bush. He told me that he had watched the snakes crawl into the bush and that he had been watching it ever since. I immediately saw that it was not two rattlesnakes but just one gopher snake. This was actually the second consecutive call for me, in which two rattlesnakes ended up being just one gophersnake. This apartment complex was in a heavily developed area near a busy intersection in North Phoenix, not far from I-17. It was also close to a large wash that led out into the native desert. I did not ask if he wanted to leave it, deciding that it was not a safe area for any snake to be.

Upon arrival, I was able to identify the snake as a Sonoran Gophersnake. The yard has SOME protective measures taken, but the homeowner would like to have the fencing team come out and quote to seal it properly. No additional snakes were recovered.

2:00 PM		 Peoria 85383 Sonoran Gophersnake The homeowner was startled when she saw a gophersnake in her backyard near her pool. In a panic, but not intending to harm the snake, she managed to trap it by pinning its tail under the foot of a lawn chair. When I arrived, the snake was still pinned. The chair was not heavy, and it had only pinched the very end of the tail leaving a small impression. Holding the snake, I was able to get a closer look at its tail. There were no lesions or bleeding, and the snake was acting quite normal. The home is in a Peroia neighborhood situated very close to a mountain preserve, with several natural drainages running through out. The back yard had a pool, but no landscaping or irrigation. There was a typical arrangement of patio furniture, potted plants, and a grill. Gaps under and around her gate as well as a drain in the block wall were plenty big enough for a snake twice its size to easily enter or exit. The homeowner was interested in having these entry points covered with snake fencing. I searched the rest of the property and did not find any other snakes.

When she looked this morning she saw the big gophersnake in the corner of her garage and its head was stuck in a sticky trap. The garage was sealed well, but she said she leaves the garage door open all the time. I was able to get the snake off the trap unharmed. She has a little desert drainage behind her home and also a golf course nearby.

12:30 PM		 Scottsdale 85255 Sonoran Gophersnake The homeowner called because they had a snake in their backyard eating quail eggs. Before calling us, they shot the snake with a pellet gun only injuring it and it disappeared into to some landscaping rocks. I flooded the rocks with water and we found the snake on the other side of the wall. It had found a way under the wall through the rocks. The snake was observed for a couple of days and after recovering it was released into deep cover.

9:30 PM		 Cave Creek 85331 Sonoran Gophersnake I was dispatched a call for a snake under trash can. Customer sent picture of snake’s head peaking out from underneath the trash can and I confirmed it was a gophersnake. Snakes neck/throat appeared extremely pinched underneath the can and I assumed it was dead but customer still wanted us to grab it. Met customer’s in the side yard where they pointed out the snake. Snakes head appeared the same as in pictures. Once I tilted the dumpster up the snake bolted and I was able to capture it with my left hand. Snake struck my left hand but no injury. I bucketed snake and performed inspection of the rest of the yard. There were two areas in the yard when quail chicks had recently hatched and I suspect the reason why the snake was in the yard. No other snakes found.

She and the neighbor were able to watch it while I was en route. The snake was hunkered down under a large bougainvillea bush when I arrived. I was able to remove the snake without incident.

11:00 AM		 Phoenix 85032 Sonoran Gophersnake The homeowner heard her dog barking an odd bark and looked to see a large yellow snake slither into a rosemary up by her house in the back yard. I saw a large hole under the rosemary so I started to water it out. The snake came out and instantly started to drink a lot of water. It was a big healthy gophersnake. The home was a block down the road from the preserve. The heaviest vegetation in the yard was the rosemary which she said rabbits live in.

The yard was previously sealed by us but we found no breach points or areas of concern with fencing. Did not seem interested in renewing the warranty, as they have not had any issues in the past 5 years.

I arrived and the snake was under a bush and only slowly moving both due to being observed and having recently ingested a meal. This client has rattlesnake fencing and is no stranger to Rattlesnake Solutions. He was interested in how the snake may have entered the yard. I advised the client that these Gophersnakes are adept climbers and pointed out the most likely areas in which it could have made entry. I made recommendations to trim the branches protruding through the fencing along the back view fence. I also provided a theory that the snake could have climbed the bougainvillea that hugs the perimeter wall on the side of the house. No other snakes were recovered.
