Phoenix 85085 Sonoran Gophersnake Rattlesnake on front porch. Arrived and found the snake had moved. Customer showed me a photo of the tail of a gopher snake. Searched the park area next to the house and found a yearling gopher snake hunting in an old quail nest under a bush. Captured the snake and educated the customer that it is harmless and was just taking shelter on his patio to cool down. Customer is interested in rattlesnake fencing. He already has mesh installed that looks decent. There appear to be wall gaps and a single gate on a hard surface. Customer inquired about a discount on fencing after paying for removal; I told him I would let the fencing team make that call.

The snake was last seen in a large agave cluster, so I flooded the area, and the homeowner and I began removing some agave plants here and there to help. After about 40 minutes, we discovered a Sonoran gophersnake underneath all the debris. The snake was released in a packrat nest in a small patch of desert near the neighborhood but away from homes. Phoenix 85042 Sonoran Gophersnake Homeowner called about a potential rattlesnake in her backyard that her dogs were barking at. Lost sight of the snake in the midst of the chaos, so I had to do a bit of searching. The yard was big and had lots of open space but also plenty of debris for snakes to hide in. My main focus was a tortoise burrow that was near where the snake was seen (they have a pet tortoise) so after checking the rest of the yard I started to flood the burrow. About 5 mins later a large Sonoran Gophersnake popped out. Confirmed with the lady that it was the snake she saw, she said it was rattling its tail and I explained to her that all snakes will do that when they feel threatened. Snake released into a deep cave in the side of a wash wall within its estimated home range. South Phoenix Homeowner called about a potential rattlesnake in her backyard that her dogs were barking at. Cave Creek 85331 Sonoran Gophersnake I arrived at the maintenance yard about 50 minutes from the time the call came in. The landscapers that saw the snake were no longer present. I was told that they had seen a snake disappear into a brush pile near a dumpster. The brush pile was very large and was situated up against two drain holes, each several feet across. I began pulling branches off of the pile one at a time until I finally reached the ground when I saw a gopher snake moving through the remaining brush. I tried several times to grab the snake but was not able to capture it. It likely escaped under the large dumpster next to the brush pile. I contacted the office that called us and explained what I found. She was glad that I found the snake and was relieved it was not a rattlesnake. She said that she would call for the landscapers to come and take care of the brush.

Phoenix 85041 Sonoran Gophersnake Yesterday a customer of the extra space storage facility saw what he said to be a rattlesnake in his storage unit. He watched it slither to the one next to his and he took a video. They showed me the video when I arrived, and it was a harmless gopher snake. They still wanted me to check it out. We opened the unit it slithered to first and it was so jammed packed we could barely open the door. We then looked in the unit the guy saw it and the snake was pretty much in the same corner he saw it yesterday. It was a young gophersnake. Cave Creek 85331 Sonoran Gophersnake The homeowner said they saw a rattlesnake slither across their back patio into a lantana bush. I searched the lantana and saw a Gophersnake inside. It was very dense, so I wasn’t able to grab it right away, and then it disappeared into the bush. There were a few holes under the bush and around the bush, so I started watering those out, but it never did come out. They were OK with leaving it since it wasn’t a rattlesnake. I searched the rest of the yard and did not find any rattlesnakes. They have a block fence with two gates and a gated courtyard. They are surrounded by good desert habitat next to their home.
