After arriving one of the homeowners guided me to the location where the other was watching the snake. Upon inspection, the animal was determined to be a young Mojave Rattlesnake which had sheltered itself next to the homeowners standing grill. The snake was quickly captured and relocated to a large rodent burrow in a nearby wash with still active pools of water, as well as abundant plant and animal life. The yard where the snake was found had many objects bunched up along the sidewall of the house which could have attracted the snake as a source of shelter. |

| 2021-11-06 2:00 PM | Prescott Valley | 86315 | Mojave Rattlesnake | Important information: gate code 5491 I received a call about a rattlesnake that had been trapped in a rodent snape trap inside a persons garage. Before arriving the homeowner had safely and gently moved the animal just outfrount of the garage with a collapsible snake hook they owned and upon arriving the animal was determined to be a Mojave Rattlesnake. The snake was delicately as possible freed from the trap and quickly captured and bucketed. Fortunately the animal was caught by the sides of the trap instead of the front and suffered no significant injuries. Afterwards the animal was relocated to a relatively nearby rock outcrop that have a small cave with a packrat nest inside. The smaller of the two garage doors had been stuck slighyly open allowing easy entrance into the garage and the cool stable temperature as well as the numerous hiding places inside would have acted as an appealing shelter while approaching the winter months. The homeowner also had issues with various rodent species, explaining the presence of rodent traps, which also could have played a part in the snakes presence. |

| 2024-04-14 10:00 PM | Phoenix | 85085 | Mojave Rattlesnake | Received a call about a small rattlesnake inside customer’s garage. When I arrived I was greeted but customer and her husband who opened the garage door. Husband pointed out where they had initially noticed the snake. As I entered garage I noticed neonate Mojave in ambush in the corner of garage nearest garage door. Snake had 1 button and could not rattle. Used giant tweezers to capture snake and bucket without incident. Performed inspection of garage and front yard. Garage was clean and tidy with no place for snake to hide unnoticed. Yard was well manicured with minimal places for snake to hide. Customer mentioned he had lived 20 years in the home and it was their first encounter with a snake. Neighborhood is surrounded by desert habitat but home isn’t as close to accessible desert points as other homes. I suspect snake was born and came from habitat to the west of neighborhood. Garage door seal was in great shape and customer stated he regularly maintains it. Garage floor had groove running the length all the way to garage door which created a small divot underneath garage door seal. I suspect snake entered through here as it was small enough to. Advised customer to look into ways to have it sealed. I offered inspection of back yard and did so with no other snakes found on property. Offered free fencing quote and customer declined. |
