The home backs right up to the side of a mountain, but the yard is fenced. However, both side gates are not fenced and have small gaps that are likely where the snake entered. I hiked the snake back up a decent bit and found a nice large rock pile, I released the snake on the northern side of the rock pile that way it can choose whether or not it wants to be cool or warm in the coming days and hopefully it can use this rock pile to spend the winter. I spent nearly 40 min searching the guest unit as well as neighboring units. No sign of the snake.
