I was digging through pack rat nest for a bit but didn’t see anything. The rest of the property looked good. Interested in fencing but the wall is only a couple feet tall at some points so not sure if the property is a good candidate for fencing.

Captured one adult male western diamondback upon arrival but was told that second adult had been observed in same area but not watched. I suspected it was a courting pair but was not able to confirm. After searching entire property no other adult snake was found, but neonate was removed from other side of property air conditioning units.

Homeowners had been away for a few days and the landscaping around their home was recently trimmed by the greyhawk complex, which I suspect led to the snake seeking shelter in the homeowners yard. Large rattlesnake was chilling right under an oleander tree in the corner of the yard and likely got over some haphazard fencing. Prime candidate for our rattlesnake fencing, and very interested, as they have a dog. No other evidence of snake activity or rodent activity in the property, and snake likely was just searching for a safe place to hang out after landscaping was trimmed.

There’s a wash that runs next to house and they have had 5 rattlesnakes since they moved in in late August. They did have someone over for a quote on fencing but have not heard back from them, I will reach out to the fencing team about contacting them ASAP

This is the 6th rattlesnake they have had in the last 2.5 months, and they are waiting to get a quote on fencing. Yard was surrounded by mothballs in an attempt to keep snakes out. I informed them that this obviously does not work. House is next to a small wash that leads in from the desert where snakes are coming from.

However, there is some do it yourself snake fencing that needs to be replaced. She said that they have been doing a lot of remodeling and we’re thinking about doing it themselves but I made a good case that it’s not a good idea and that we have a good discount for Halloween.

Since it was on the wrong side of the canal, I assume it fell in at some point and had managed to find this spot to hide.

The Western Diamondback Rattlesnake was still in there when I got there. They live in and around the good desert habitat. They have a large view fence. There landscaper put up some fencing but it’s not snake proof.

2021-03-18 1:00 PM	Scottsdale	85266	Western Diamondback Rattlesnake	A handyman spotted the juvenile Western Diamondback Rattlesnake inside the garage in the corner. The garage had some gaps where the snake could have got in if it was shut.

They called and watched it until I arrived. Upon pulling back the leaves, I saw a Gophersnake. Educated the homeowners on the species and pointed out things that could be done to improve the snake fence before leaving.

Snake was found in a large clump of fountain grass that had a hollow center near the entrance to the building. Snake and likely been displaced somehow and living there for a few days, as they said this is the third time they’ve seen it.

They were excited and really cool people. Their yard doesn’t have a fence and is open. They do have vegetation but it is well kept and pretty much as clean as you can get a yard. They are surrounded by desert and may get a fence one day.
