5:30 PM		 Phoenix 85054 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Large western diamondback was seen slithering across the customers back yard turf. When I arrived it had taken refuge behind a large blue pot against the back wall of the residence. The snake came in through one of the two gates on either side of the house where there were gaps upwards of 3”. The snake was quickly captured and released north west of the new development into a deep pack rack nest just off of a wash.

8:00 PM		 Phoenix 85054 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Snake was found in customers back yard after it started rattling. When I arrived it was just off their back patio in the rocks next to a BBQ grill.

9:00 AM		 Marana 85743 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Property owner called to say he had revealed two rattlesnakes when demolishing sone old structures on a lot. The property had various sheds, wood and debris piles and an old trailer home. There were at least seven pack rat nests just in the area surrounding the trailer. Owner used a Bobcat to lift one of the sheds and two Western Diamondbacks were reveled. Both snakes were captured with tongs and went into the bucket without fuss. Both snakes appeared to be male and they had a more reddish appearance than the ones i’m used to seeing in the nearby Tucson mountains.

No other snakes were found on a search of the yard. An inspection ticket was created, but snake likely overwintered in said yard- was found under a flower pot that had not been moved in months.

Two weeks ago she had a little rattlesnake coiled by her front door and she thought it had left. After getting the rattlesnake she saw I was looking around and under a pot in the side yard I found another baby rattlesnake. This one looked like the one she saw by her front door a few weeks ago. She has some desert by her and a lot of new construction in what was good desert habitat. She has a block fence with a gate.

Relocated as far away from residential area as possible while still keeping him near the capture area. No other snakes found upon brief walk of yard Customer interested in fencing. The snake then went under a near by bush and that’s where I caught it. The home backed up to a little lake and a golf course. On the other side of the street was a desert hillside.

5:30 AM		 Phoenix 85048 Nightsnake This was at an apartment complex. The homeowner saw the little snake by the washer and tried to put a towel over it and grab it but it then went underneath. I pulled the washer and drier out and it was behind a broom. They said they leave their doors open.

3:30 PM		 Scottsdale 85255 Sonoran Gophersnake This lady lived down the road and saw what she said was a rattlesnake in the middle of the road but not moving very well. I said it was probably hit by a car. She didn’t want it to go in someone else’s yard so she wanted it removed. It was a gophersnake with its guts hanging out. It was barely alive when I put it in the bucket but died shortly after.

They thought it went in a hole so I watered it out but nothing came out. I then looked around and found it in an old horse stall. The back yard didn’t have much for vegetation but some stacked wood around the horse stall. The home was really close to the preserve.

The husband tried to make it move but it just rattled and stayed put. The garage had gaps in it so it may have been staying there over the winter. The home had a drainage next to it that led to the bigger piece of desert.

5:00 PM		 Phoenix 85050 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowner was out in the back yard kicking the soccer ball with the kids when he heard a rattle. Where the turf met up with the block wall there was an area that was indented. They assumed it was under there. I pulled back the turf to discover a rattlesnake and a bloody squirrel. The squirrel was still alive but was on its way out so I put it with the snake. After looking around I believe the snake may have been hibernating in a near by hot tub and smelt out the rodent that had a hole under the turf. The home backs up to desert and has a view fence with high block bottom.

This garage had a lot of stuff in it and wasn’t being used. The snake was likely there all winter the snake was in the corner of the garage. After a brief check of the cluttered garage we saw no other snake.

10:30 AM		 Scottsdale 85255 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Resident first saw a coiled western diamondback, rattlesnake, sitting in a wet patch of ground near a garage. After discussion, I learned that this is used for long-term storage by the property owner. Suspected to be a winter den. I went out to investigate and found snake tracks and shed skin from a young western diamondback that matched the description and photographs from the resident. Search the garage, found no additional snakes, found the snake coiled in filtered light at the base of a bush near the water source. Captured and advised that the property owner be contacted to allow entry to the closed garage to search for additional snakes.

6:00 PM		 Mesa 85207 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The gentleman was doing his rounds checking the bathrooms when the baby rattlesnake rattled at him. It was in the entryway on the way to the restrooms. This was at a public park that had soccer fields and other fields. There once was desert across the street but it was all flattened with tractors in it ready to be built up. The building the snake was in had a storage area with a garage type door which is where I think the snake had been hibernating. The little snake had a bolus also.

Today he called and said he had a small snake in front of the garage door. He said it was harmless but I asked for a picture. It was a baby speckled rattlesnake. The garage door had poor seals and the snake was likely hibernating in the garage. The home backs up to south mountain.

Arrived and found a small night snake in defensive position. Cleared property. I advised the customer that the property is full of leaf litter that could contain other animals, and I suggested caution while continuing work in these areas. Also suggested physical barrier.

I dismantled the rock pile and only found one snake, likely that it had overwintered in it. The homeowner seemed interested in a fencing referral; they have an open fence along the desert in their small fenced-in yard.

10:30 AM		 Florence 85132 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake, Western Diamondback Rattlesnake This is at a construction site in the middle of the desert. They went to move a shipping container and when they did they saw snakes underneath. When they set it back down they crushed one on accident and it died. They weren't sure how many snakes were under there. When they lifted it up again the other snake was injured and was missing some skin on its belly and may have had some broken bones. I released it and hoped for the best.

7:00 AM		 Gold Canyon 85118 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowner went into the garage to change the liter box when she moved the container and saw the baby rattlesnake. It then went under the near by refrigerator. Last week they found this snake in there garage and they put it out in the front yard. The seals on the garage door are bad and the snake came back in without them knowing. The home has a lot of deserts right behind it.

11:00 AM		 Scottsdale 85260 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake This was at a business center in the under ground parking garage. Someone had saw the snake but then they lost sight of it. I found the snake not far from where they saw it just coiled in the corner. It was pretty cold in this parking garage. There were gaps that separated the wall and cement floor that possibly could have been a place the snake was. There were also some storage rooms nearby. They had just received a bunch of desert trees that were placed right by this area that the snake could have been transported in. It was a healthy older adult and the area I got it in was extremely populated.

10:30 PM		 Peoria 85382 Longnosed Snake, Longnosed Snake Baby longnose. Snake was found in the house dining room. Identified as nonvenomous over the phone with photo. Snake suffered mortal wound, nearly completely severed about 1/3 from head. It was a very small snake. Homeowners accidentally crushed it trying to contain it when it started to move. They were very sad and apologetic. The person who injured it (husband) was not the person I was speaking to (wife) and I think that contributed to the accident. I am letting the snake pass in a comfortable space. :( I searched laundry room and garage for them as well and saw no other evidence of snakes or rodents. Made fencing removal and showed them how we relocated the snakes. Snake is gorgeous, tiny, and so cute - very sad :(

The courtyard had bricks for flooring and some up against the house weren’t sealed that well. The snake could have potentially been hibernating there, or their garage just around the corner had big gaps in the corners. Across the street they had a drainage area that had a bunch of stacked rocks which also would have provided a nice warm spot for winter. Hard to say for sure where it had been it was very small still.
