Having noticed this, the homeowner called for relocation. During relocation, the homeowner expressed that another snake is living in their backyard and I decided to go and take a look where I found a second diamondback rattlesnake. The area within is open desert from the backyard and beyond.

9:00 PM		 Tucson 85746 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Snake was curled up next to a shed in the backyard. The yard was walled with multiple gates, a swimming pool, and a small stack of sticks and other yard debris. The callers rent the property so they were not interested in snake fencing.

12:00 PM		 Tucson 85746 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Homeowner called because he’d seen a snake in his backyard and thought it was a rattlesnake. When I arrived he discovered that his dog was limping and appeared to have been bitten. Flank looked slightly swollen. The snake, a large male Western Diamondback Rattlesnake was captured and taken to an appropriate release site.

This is the second rattlesnake they have had relocated from their backyard this year. They previously used Arizona rattlesnake services, which referred them to us. This time when I arrived the snake was as described curled up in the backyard and was a young Western diamondback. The home is located in a vast broken-up gated community in the Cave Creek area. It has broken patches of desert habitat between the homes and Desert landscaping. The home has a mostly block wall for a fence, however, the gate to the backyard is not rattlesnake-proofed and they are interested in having the backyard. Rattlesnake proofed the snake was contained in a bucket and then released within its home range into a desert habitat far from other buildings into a large borough system going under a series of creosote bushes

6:30 PM		 Phoenix 85024 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowner just sat down to relax in his backyard when he spotted a rattlesnake curled up in the shade of a nearby tree. I arrived at the home in North Phoenix and found the snake exactly where it had been when it was discovered. Surprisingly, this was the first snake seen on the property in years. The back yard had a view fence that opened up to a large drainage that connected to native desert across the street. There was some DIY mesh on the fence that had been poorly installed. It was full of gaps and holes, rendering it useless. There was a lot of thick landscaping, kids toys, a pool, and normal back yard clutter leaving lots of decent cover. I searched the rest of the yard and did not find any other snakes.

When I arrived the lizard was not where they said it was and I had to do a lot of moving around of storage supplies in a storage closet and eventually found and captured the lizard before driving it down the road to the local park where I released it into a rock pile

4:00 PM		 Scottsdale 85255 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowner went to turn the hose faucet on in the backyard when she noticed the rattlesnake coiled in a water box right below it that had the lid off. The hose was dripping which may have attracted the snake. The home backed up to a drainage that led to a lot more desert down the road.

When I showed up the snake had not moved. I was able to quickly secure it and did a quick sweep of the backyard. The snake was released within a mile into a wash in a large packrat nest.

Homeowner identified a snake going into the existing hole off the side of the house. Following call, I was able to locate the snake outside of the hole curled up in the corner of the brick wall. The snake was coiled near a sidewalk. When I arrived, the snake had gone, so I looked around. 9:00 PM		 Phoenix 85054 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake A call by nighttime security at the American Express offices in North Phoenix to Burns Pest Elimination was transferred to us to remove a rattlesnake. I have been contacted by Burns in the past to remove a snake from this same location. The campus is comprised of several large office buildings and is surrounded by a small and quickly shrinking area of native desert. When I arrived, security personnel had already caught the young snake and had it waiting for me in a bucket. Considering the future development in the surrounding area, I decided to relocate the snake slightly further away from the spot of capture than I usually would.

A construction crew was working in the area and there was some concern about the snake. I was able to secure the snake and relocate it to a nearby wash into a packrat nest.

5:30 PM		 Scottsdale 85255 Sonoran Gophersnake Homeowners were so scared of the snake that I did not get to do my usual education on what attracts snakes, prevention, possible fencing, etc. They were not interested in talking so I respected their boundaries and took the snake away from their home quickly. They did say that the snake had been there a few days slithering in and out of their yard, but I did not get much more out of them of how many snakes they get a year, etc. Very nice but frightened couple.

When I arrived, the snake had retreated into the hole where I had worked to use a hose in order to lure the snake out. Following that being unsuccessful. There was a giant spool located near the hole where I was able to successfully lift that sport to identify two snakes, one diamondback, rattlesnake, and one gopher snake where I was able to safely retrieve both snakes.

9:00 AM		 Tucson 85750 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowner was out taking the dog outside. When she stepped on a western diamondback. Homeowner insured safe retreat from the snake (snake did not bite homeowner) where she was able to follow its path where it curled up between plant pots in the backyard. The surrounding area of where the snake was located in the backyard where there were a bunch of ground plants that offered plenty of shade coverage as well as potted plants. Surrounding the backyard was a runoff up against the side of the house.

7:30 PM		 Tucson 85747 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Homeowners were sitting in the backyard when they noticed movement towards a plant pot. Unsure of the identity of the snake, the homeowner sent a photo to confirm the species. Being a western diamondback homeowners wanted snake to be removed. Snake had moved from its original position under the plant pot towards a disassembled dog crate where it was then captured. The surrounding area where the snake was located is other homes that are wall-to-wall. Homeowner did confirm that there is a wash located at the back of the home sharing a wall with them.

Following locating the snake, the homeowner stated that it retreated into a crack within the house and was unable to be located again. 9:00 AM		 Waddell 85355 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Rattlesnake in the backyard. The backyard was very large with mostly concrete walls surrounding with one area of view fencing. The homeowners stated they get about one rattlesnake a year. They have also seen kingsnakes, coachwhips, and sonoran gophersnakes. The backyard had plenty of trash with sun rot and piles that were great habitat. I found a live rat when I was looking for the rattlesnake in their shed. They took our card and are interested in fencing but on the fence. I told them they can call anytime if they change their mind for a free quote.

10:30 AM		 Marana 85743 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake This homeowner called after his Ring camera alerted him that there was motion at his front door, and when he checked to see what it was, he discovered a Western Diamondback Rattlesnake cruising around his front yard. He is no stranger to rattlesnakes, as he’s had 17 removed from his property in the past year or so. Thankfully he kept an eye on it while I was en route, and when I arrived it was sitting in ambush under a prickly pear. I secured the snake in the bucket and relocated it to a suitable habitat within its home range: down into a rodent burrow surrounded by cover.

Snake was successfully put into the bucket and taken to the desert a few blocks from the area. The homeowner had a bird bath on the ground next to the snake. I advised that it’s an interesting point for the snake.

7:00 PM		 Peoria 85383 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake, Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowner of a North Peoria home called after seeing two rattlesnakes near a water fountain close to his front door. We have been called to this home several times before. A tall retaining wall made of large boulders ran along an entire side of the property and the yard was full of irrigated landscaping that perfectly matched the adjacent native desert. At first, it was thought that the snakes had gone underneath a large rock near the water fountain. As I started to run a hose under the rock, I spotted one of the snakes along the side of the foundation of the home, and the other had moved several feet up into a thick vine. After they were both in the bucket, I searched, as best I could, the rest of the property. Surprisingly, I did not find any other snakes.

11:30 AM		 Casa Grande 85122 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake A homeowner in Casa Grande called about a Western Diamondback curled up by his front door. The front area is completely shaded so the snake was likely planning on spending the entire day there. This home backs right up to the open desert and there is a large pile of rocks along the entire backside of the neighborhood placed there for erosion control along with plenty of shady trees around, so the snake likely did not come from too far away.

Arrived at home and met the customer in the front yard. The customer lost sight of the snake. Performed a quick inspection of the front yard and eventually found a young atrox crawling east towards a wash. Captured snake using tongs with no issue. The customer stated they first noticed a snake under a small shrub near the front door and it buzzed them. Performed an inspection of the back yard as well and no other snakes were found.

Homeowner insured, dogs, and self-safety were then called for removal. Surrounding area of the backyard is over the gate a wash followed by open desert, where the rattlesnake could’ve entered through the drainage brick at the end of the wall.

9:30 PM		 Scottsdale 85255 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake North Scottsdale homeowners called with a request to relocate a small rattlesnake that was crawling through the front yard towards a drainage wash that goes between properties they were alerted by the cat showing lots of interest by the window. When I arrived the snake had already made it down into the drainage ditch that I had to slide down to retrieve it still within their property but almost to the next. I inspected the rest of the property and explained that they had been doing a good job maintaining their landscaping but pointed out a few holes that might be valuable to fill in and explained that we could easily proof their back yard. The backyard is part block wall and part view fence. I explained rattlesnake behavior and safety as well. The home is in a spacious gated community that has lots of natural habitat and desert landscaping in between the homes not far from larger plots of open natural land.

10:30 PM		 Phoenix 85045 Nightsnake A homeowner in Ahwatukee called about an unknown snake inside his home that he had trapped under a bucket. When I arrived I discovered that the mystery snake was a Nightsnake. There were some minor issues with the trim around the edge of the front door but nothing glaringly obvious so the snake very easily could have entered the home via an open door, hard to say for sure but I recommended the homeowner just ensure all entrances to the home are properly sealed to prevent snakes from entering the home in the future.

Arrived at home and met customers in the backyard who were watching the snake from a safe distance. I observed an atrox in ambush along a pool fence line that ran perpendicular to the view fence. Performed inspection and there were several areas along the view fence that a snake could have gotten into. Customers have a few small dogs who spend time in yard. The customer stated this is the first snake they’ve noticed in the backyard. Offered a free fencing quote and the customer accepted. No other snakes found.

The barn was very clean, with not much cover besides an old machine. I looked under it and the snake was coiled up.
