The bush the snake retreated to was a large Rosemary and it was next to an even larger one. Neither bush appeared to have a midden in it but one had a remarkably large spiny lizard.

Tucson 85742 Gila Monster This homeowner called when he found a Gila Monster relaxing in his kitchen. This homeowner was getting his kitchen redone, and believes contractors left the door open- which allowed this beautiful lizard to enter his home. He knew it couldn’t stay, and called us right away. When I arrived, I carefully secured the Gila in the bucket using my hook and tongs to support and balance his body while I placed him gently into the bucket. After giving him some water, we took a short hike into nearby habitat and found a deep den that would make for a suitable release spot. I sent the Gila down into the den to escape the heat, and live out the rest of its life in appropriate habitat within its home range.

Tucson 85742 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake This homeowner is no stranger to rattlesnakes, as she’s called us in the past to remove rattlesnakes at her old property. She called after her husband found a Western Diamondback sitting in ambush against the retaining wall in the backyard. This rattlesnake alerted the husband with its rattle before he even knew it was there. When I arrived, I secured the snake in the bucket and found a suitable nearby habitat to release the snake into. A deep rodent burrow underneath a dead Saguaro in a nearby wash ended up being the perfect spot, as I found another Western Diamondback sitting in ambush not too far away.

Tucson 85741 Sonoran Gophersnake Tearing down an old shed and customer saw what he thought was a large rattlesnake. Under the floor boards found a 48" fat and healthy gopher snake. Multiple shed skins as well as a family of pack rats. Customer decided to let me leave the snake, but mentioned he was going to spread some rat poison in the area. I convinced him that the snake could become a victim of the poison by consuming infected rodents and the snake was relocated to some nearby habitat.

When I arrived she showed me the area it was at. When I got to area she asked if I could see it. I said no I don’t see anything. Turns out that the chicken wire on drainage hole area had leafs stuck in it and she believed the leaf litter was a rattlesnake. She was very embarrassed. I searched around the area and gave her pointers on how to make the area a little less snake friendly which she appreciated. She was still grateful for the response. End of report.

Tucson 85741 None A probable adult Western Diamondback that went under a huge cement slab that serves as a basketball court. I was unable to see the snake as there is a large amount of space and burrows underneath. I will try again on Saturday. Two gates and around 20 to 25 open drainage holes. There is possibly an issue with Pima Co. in screening these.
