I picked the snake up and showed the customer and discussed the physical differences between a rattlesnake and a night snake: They were very relieved that it was a harmless species.

The three desert nightsnakes entered through a gap in the garage corner where glue traps were waiting. Thanks to Apryl’s notes I brought vegetable oil which allowed me to free all three snakes.

They said they leave their back door open sometimes so its likely the snake found its way into the home through there. Snake released into a small hole at the base of a creosote mound in the desert area across the street from neighborhood

7:00 PM		 Phoenix 85044 Nightsnake The snake was seen going into a crack between the wall and the door on the homeowner’s back porch. It was not visible upon arrival. The area was flooded with a hose, which flushed the snake out of the crack for an easy capture.

2:00 AM		 Phoenix 85351 Nightsnake Received a call from adult children of a homeowner about a small snake in bedroom. While they coordinated with the homeowner the relayed a picture of me which I ID’d as a desert nightsnake. Provided education on the animal and encouraged homeowner to capture it themself. Homeowner declined and agreed with quote. Arrived at the home and was greeted by homeowner’s grandchildren. I was shown to the bedroom and noted the snake between the baseboard and leg of computer desk. Captured snake using hands without incident and let grandchildren pet the snake with permission from homeowner. After quick inspection of the home I believe the snake entered through the back door as family reported having the door open often to let dogs in and out. Homeowner stated this is the first snake she had seen in the neighborhood and asked questions about rattlesnakes. I assured the customer that there was no good habitat nearby for rattlesnakes and she didn’t have to worry about them. Provided education on the colubrid snakes that do well near golf courses.

6:30 AM		 Sun City 85373 Nightsnake The homeowner woke up to her living room being a mess from her cat. She noticed her cat trying to catch something then saw it was a snake. She put a trash bin over it not knowing what it was. It was a nightsnake and was not harmed by the cat. The doors were all sealed well but she does leave the back patio open sometimes for the cat. She lives off a golf course and has a little desert behind her .

5:00 AM		 Phoenix 85044 Nightsnake Homeowner called with a potential baby rattlesnake by the side gate/ front patio. The homeowner had two dogs and was scared that they might get bitten. After just a few minutes of searching around the side gate I noticed a very thin tail sticking out from underneath the side door of the garage. I was able to secure the desert nightsnake and relocated just off the trail in a heavily covered wash down the street.

9:30 PM		 Scottsdale 85255 Nightsnake Customer called with snake in-house. They were not sure if it was a rattlesnake or not. They were able to throw a pot over it. Upon arrival I lifted the pot and found a small desert night snake which I was able to relocate into nearby rocky mountain habitat.

7:00 PM		 Peoria 85308 Nightsnake The homeowner called about a snake in her kitchen. I asked for a picture for identification and determined it to be a Nightsnake. I explained that it was completely harmless, but she wanted it removed from her home. When I arrived, they had it cornered with a dustpan. After monitoring it for a few minutes to ensure that it was not harmed, I removed it from the home.

11:00 PM		 Anthem 85086 Nightsnake Homeowner called about a small snake inside their garage. They managed to sweep the tiny Nightsnake out onto the driveway without harming it and kept an eye on it until I arrived. The snake was likely using their garage for the winter. Released snake into a small rock pile in the wildlife preserve that borders the neighborhood.

5:00 PM		 Phoenix 85048 Nightsnake The homeowner saw the baby nightsnake in their garage. They thought it was a rattlesnake. They got it out of the garage but called me to come get it. It was a nightsnake and they ended up keeping it. The home had South Mountain across the street.

12:30 AM		 Cave Creek 85331 Nightsnake Received a call from customer stating he had a baby rattlesnake on his front porch. Arrived at property and was shown where the snake was. Customer pointed out a debris pile on patio and said it went into there. Utilized tongs to search under the pile and noted a decent sized nightsnake to come out. Captured snake with hands and provided customer education on the species. Customer was okay with releasing it back into property. Inspected the area a bit more but no other snakes found.

12:00 PM		 Cave Creek 85331 Nightsnake The homeowner saw the snake stuck to the trap inside the garage several hours before she called. She put the snake outside the garage but it was in the shade. I was able to get the snake off the trap but it was very weak and its mouth needed to be readjusted. The homeowner said she didn’t know she had those traps. She lives next to a desert drainage and a few parks.

6:00 PM		 El Mirage 85335 Nightsnake The homeowner called us after spotting the tail end of a Nightsnake sticking out from under the garage door. They were not sure if it was dead and they did not want to check. When I arrived, I had her open the garage door and found that the head of the snake was stuck in a glue trap just inside of the door. I used a little vegetable oil and gently removed the snake from the trap. I searched the rest of the garage and did not find any additional snakes. This home was in El Mirage and not near any sort of healthy native habitat.

9:00 AM		 Scottsdale 85255 Nightsnake The caller reported a small snake on the patio that her dog was barking at for some time. When I arrived the snake was under a plastic storage bin. The snakes mouth was agape and it was visibly not well. I placed the snake in shade and gave it cool water. I advised the client to remove slate rock pile on the side of the home and roofing tiles on the opposite side as well. The snake has not recovered but was released in hopes of pulling through.

11:30 PM		 Phoenix 85048 Nightsnake The homeowner called after spotting a Desert Nightsnake inside her home near the front door. She watched it crawl into a coat closet where her three cats kept watch until I arrived. The closet was full of items that had accumulated over the years, all of which had to be removed. I finally found the snake after removing the very last item from the closet. The homeowner thinks that it might have come in with an Amazon package that had been delivered earlier in the day. It is also possible that it found a way in through a very small gap in the front door. This was the second time that we have been called out to this Ahwatukee home to remove a Desert Nightsnake. No other snakes were found.

10:30 PM		 Phoenix 85045 Nightsnake A homeowner in Ahwatukee called about an unknown snake inside his home that he had trapped under a bucket. When I arrived I discovered that the mystery snake was a Nightsnake. There were some minor issues with the trim around the edge of the front door but nothing glaringly obvious so the snake very easily could have entered the home via an open door, hard to say for sure but I recommended the homeowner just ensure all entrances to the home are properly sealed to prevent snakes from entering the home in the future.

Following locating the snake, the homeowner stated that it retreated into a crack within the house and was unable to be located again. Upon arrival, the snake came back out and was identified as a night snake. Snake was removed from the property at the request of the homeowner. The surrounding area of the home or other houses as well as a wash that begins at the end of an alleyway

8:30 PM		 Marana 85743 Mojave Rattlesnakes Called out for a rattlesnake near the front porch. Found at the base of a medium sized bush.38" Mojave Rattlesnake 4bwith a slight taper. Did a courtesy inspection and found a second Mojave coiled in ambush by side wall. 26" 7c. Call for an easy fence referral as the main entry to the back is the gate. Gaps on either side of the house between the wall and house will also need to be addressed.

9:30 AM		 Florence 85132 Mojave Rattlesnake, Sidewinder They were clearing some land with an excavator when the driver said he ran over a snake nest and 30 snakes came out and started to attack the tires. Then the snakes all scattered and or got buried. When I got there I found a dead Mojave and a dead sidewinder both had been run over. There is a good chance more got buried and or went to nearby brush, but I didn’t see any more snakes. There is a lot of desert around both disturbed and un disturbed.

Moments away from making it under the house. Not a candidate for fencing, but would like a call from the dog aversion training person. Between Derek`s and my calls another rattlesnake was killed on the property.

Relocated further north along riverbed to nearest safe heavy cover.
