All areas of interest were searched and any deep hole or cover was flooded with garden hose. She was advised to contact local pest control to help with her active rodent issue. Also advised to trim up grass and bushes to reduce shade source. She did have several breaches around perimeter wall. One of the areas led to neighboring house which in polite terms was a hoarder house yard. Recommended to seal off all areas with 1/4 inch steel mesh. This morning a snake was found in backyard near door so she wanted us to look for active snake along with giving advice on how to reduce snake activity in yard. She had a perimeter wall with many breaches throughout fenced area. I did find 2 pack rats. 1 in backyard and one behind fence. She also had a lot of different large over grown plants and large rock wall. All near each other. I explained trimming up plants and reducing shade will help. I also explained that she should probably have pest control assist with all of the active rodents she had. She is interested in fencing. Once she looked at picture of a few common snakes found around the area she thought the snake from the morning was possibly a gophersnake. But without picture or confirmation she was told to stay cautious in case of rattlesnake. End of report. |

I played a video of a gophersnake in defensive display hissing loudly and she thought the noise was similar. She has had 3 rattlesnakes found at her residence this year. On my search I found lots of great shade sources throughout yard, some of the plants were planted in the side of his rock pile in backyard. I gave advice that shade sources should be reduced. He had some fencing up that was correct diameter of mesh and height. But there were many sections that were not complete and the parts that were complete had breaches in them. I also found signs of active rodents near his fruit tree that had rotting fruit on ground. It was recommended that it may help to reduce rodents by picking up fruit and dog feces.no active snakes were found while at residence. But home was built on deeply covered wash and sightings may occur again. End of report. |
