While looking at the camera she saw a rattlesnake cruising around the pen. Both goats laying just feet away. She said the snake was after a mouse that she thinks it killed. She watches our videos on Instagram so thought she could try and catch it and put it in a bucket but it rattled at her and that was enough. It was just coiled up in the pen when I got there. New River | 85087 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | Very nice couple who have had one rattlesnake in the past. The snake was located in their front courtyard, enjoying the shade. Their backyard and side yard were immaculate, with minimalistic styling and no clutter. They were wondering why the snake chose their front yard, as it was also very minimalistic, but the courtyard provided excellent shade for the animal. It was a small neonate rattlesnake, but over two weeks old, as no siblings or mother were found nearby. |

New River | 85087 | Gila Monster | The homeowner called about a Gila Monster on his porch. The rural New River Property sat on a half-acre lot and was surrounded by hilly native desert. He had a very large chicken coop that housed various types of fowl in addition to chickens. He insisted that the Gila Monster would not have been able to enter the enclosure. The man had his own snake tongs and while I was route, he put the lizard into a bucket out of fear that it would escape to his neighbor's property and be killed. No other reptiles were found. |

New River | 85087 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The homeowner called about a rattlesnake that was coiled up and resting in the shade on the side of his New River Home. He had seen the snake the driveway the night before and figured it would likely leave the area. Additionally, a fresh shed was recently found in the garage. I explained that the snake may have overwintered in the garage, which was very clean and well organized, but did have a large refrigerator and separate freezer unit. The home was on the edge of a development, with a view fence overlooking the New River wash. The homeowner had installed his own snake fencing, but there were several areas that were not adequately sealed. I searched the rest of the property and the garage but did not find any other snakes. |
