The snake ended up falling into a deep hole that contained some equipment. After a lot of maneuvering, I was able to get the snake out from under the equipment. The site is surrounded by desert.

When I arrived, I discovered a decent-sized Mojave rattlesnake curled up between some flower pots. The yard was small, and most of the space was occupied by a pool, but some good hiding spots were still available for even a larger snake such as this one. The snake was released into a rodent burrow at the base of a creosote bush within its estimated home range.

11:00 PM		 Florence 85132 Sidewinder Sidewinder rattlesnake sound on the side of the house. They had to wait for me for a little bit because I was running a call in Phoenix, but they watched it the whole time and it was an easy capture.

11:00 PM		 Florence 85132 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Homeowner called about a rattlesnake curled up next to her front door. When I arrived, the western diamondback was still in the same spot. Current time is almost midnight and temps are in the high 50s, so the snake was probably not going to move until sunrise. Nearby park with well-watered grass but not much cover, the snake is most likely just trying to navigate its way out of this neighborhood and has been unsuccessful so far. I helped him out by walking him into the nearby desert and placing him in a large well insulated packrat nest at the base of a large ironwood tree. Florence.

One very large male, and a female. I stayed out there for a couple minutes extra while they moved the rest of the tarps to ensure that they were not anymore.

I told them to move the rest of the tarp before I left, in case there was another one. There was another one. The one I was called for was a female, and the other one that they uncovered, while I was there, was a male.

Management wanted to kill it, but these people didn’t want to see it killed so called us instead. Briefly inspected the rest of the unit, but the unit was small and the floor was covered in dust, and there were no additional tracks or anything.

12:00 PM		 Arizona City 85123 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake I went to this home yesterday for an inspection because there dog had been bitten by a rattlesnake the night before. I did not find the snake yesterday but they had a big shed in the back yard which I suspected the snake retreated to. There was no seeing or even being able to get the snake out from under the shed with it intact. Today they decided to take down the big shed and under the floor board the snake was coiled up. There was a snake skin under there and a large rodent hole. I flooded out the hole and no one else came out. The home only really had this shed for cover in the yard. This community has a lot of natural desert surrounding it.

I searched her front and back yard. Didn’t find anything. Her neighbors yard was vacant so I searched it and was about to open the back gate when I saw the snake watching me from under the gate.

It was hanging out under a large shade tree in some clovers. The yard was pretty bare with not a lot of shade besides a few bushes. Snake looked gravid.

8:00 PM		 Casa Grande 85122 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The snake bit the homeowners dog out in the backyard. He said he couldn’t grab his dog because the snake was outside. I told him that the snake wouldn’t attack him to just grab his dog and take it to the vet. He did not do this, he along with five other people watched their dog dying on their back patio for thirty minutes while I drove there. The dog was in bad shape when I got there and outside all alone. They took the dog to the vet after I caught the snake.

From the video they took it appeared to be a bigger one than the one I got for them today. I looked around and didn’t find anything else. They had chickens running around the back yard with food spread all over the ground. They also had a garden with melons everywhere. They had a lot of vegetation around. They were also surrounded by wide open desert.

The snake may have ingested some of that because it was not doing too great. I rinsed the snake off when I relocated it, but it was barely moving. I’m not sure it’s going to make it. The homeowner had a big gaps under her front door like half inch gap. Her complex had some fields and desert across the street.

When I arrived, I found a Mojave rattlesnake between the front door and the garage, curled up in a corner. The snake was likely passing through the area and settling in for the night, as this is a very active time of year for snakes just after sunset. I took the snake back into the desert behind the neighborhood and released it into deep cover in a rodent burrow at the base of a mound of bushes.

When I arrived it had moved under the bench press and was easy to secure in my bucket. This huge western diamondback was located to a heavily vegetated wash with many rodent holes in the nearby desert habitat.

5:00 PM		 Casa Grande 85122 Sonoran Sidewinder The homeowner called about a small rattlesnake curled up by her AC unit. When I arrived, I found the Sidewinder in the same spot. Temps are about 105 right now so this shady area was likely keeping him alive. Home is right up against the open desert, and the back wall is cinderblock, so the snake was likely just stuck in the yard and unable to find its way back into the desert. Gate gaps and holes in the block wall for drainage are easy access points to this yard and likely how the snake entered. Took the snake back out into the desert nearby and placed it into the deep cover of a rodent hole at the base of a creosote bush.

It then went into a wall gap between the home and fence. After that they lost sight of it. There was a hole going under the cement so I put some water in there from a hose and the snake came right out. This facility was surrounded by desert with what looked like a well watered yard at least in the front.
