Mesa 85207 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowner found the snake in the road out in front of his house last night. He put it in a bucket and called me today to come get it. Behind his home was a rocky hillside but that was the only desert habitat nearby. This was a small hill surrounded by homes and a highway. A few blocks away was some more desert not much that surrounded Mesa community college . I wouldn’t assume this area has many rattlesnake left because of how little habitat is around. He said the trash guy came yesterday and it was after that when he saw the neonate. I wonder if the snake had been transported to this area on accident. Either way it could not survive long in this area without being seen again so I took it to a better area.

Mesa 85212 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Western diamondback rattlesnake coiled up in the shade of a trench on a large job site. It is on the periphery of where a historic urban den was. It was in the middle of the site so it was likely moving all night and ended up there.

Mesa 85207 Whiptail Lizard The homeowner called about a snake in a glue trap. Upon arrival, I discovered that it was actually two whiptail lizards, and because one of the lizard’s tails was sticking out of the glue trap I could see how someone unfamiliar with snakes could mistake that for a snake tail. Spray olive oil to the rescue, and 10 mins later both lizards were free and placed into a small rodent hole in the nearby desert.

Mesa 85212 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake This was at a sports complex. They had an obstacle course with a bridge and they heard the snake rattle at them from under the bridge. I was able to grab the large diamondback from under the bridge. On the side of this part of the complex was a small piece of desert but unfortunately it was being bulldozed. The complex was all soccer fields and courts. Very little desert left.

Mesa 85207 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowner stated they noticed the rattlesnake curled up in the corner of a shaded gravel area at the front of her home as she was going to work on her bench project, which she had left there to dry. When I arrived she was able to direct me right to where it was perfectly blended in to the gravel against the home as described. The rattlesnake was easily captured and contained in the bucket. The home is located within a gated community of homes with very naturalistic desert-type landscaping and large yards with lots of desert foliage, the community sits very close to the nearby Regional Park.

Mesa 85207 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Rattlesnake was in the front yard in a bougainvillea bush. The homeowner had a recent influx of rattlesnakes this year due to nearby construction. She was bitten by one on her property many years ago while dragging her dog away from the snake. Interested in snake fencing. Concrete wall all around the property with 1 RV gate and 1 side gate. She is worried about the concrete not being level underneath RV gate but it did not look like it was uneven to my eyes or anything out of the norm but just a heads up.

Mesa 85209 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The snake was at the back door of a dentist offices. This business center has a lot of desert right behind it. I have got a few snakes by these businesses before. They put the snake in a box and that’s how I got it.

Mesa 85213 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Homeowner in Mesa called about a rattlesnake curled up by her front door. The young Western Diamondback was still in the same spot when I got there and greeted me with a lovely rattle. Not much habitat in the immediate area but enough for a rattlesnake to survive I suppose. Took the snake to a nearby patch of desert that will serve as a much better habitat and placed it into a packrat nest at the base of a large shady tree.

Mesa 85207 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowner’s pool person was cleaning the pool and looked in the skimmer and saw the rattlesnake. He shut the lid and didn’t look back. When I arrived, I lifted the heavy granite lid and the poor snake was squished and motionless. I assumed the snake was dead because it was not moving and was squished. When I went to open my bucket back up to put it in the desert the snake was moving and rattling and looked to be doing ok. It had a little gash on its neck, but I think with time it’ll make a full recovery. The home had a lot of natural desert around it.

Mesa 85207 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowner called about a small western diamondback rattlesnake that was curled up next to his garage door. The snake was still in the same spot when I arrived, taking advantage of the shade that the house was providing. The homeowner said the snake was in the same spot yesterday and he tried to spray it with water to get it to leave, but it ended up coming back to the same spot today. I told him that he probably increased his chances of the snake staying there because the snake figured it could get a drink of water in that area. Home is surrounded by a golf course with a lot of open patches of desert in between houses.

Mesa 85207 Sonoran Gophersnake The homeowner heard something in her garage last night but didn’t see anything. When she looked this morning she saw the big gophersnake in the corner of her garage and its head was stuck in a sticky trap. The garage was sealed well, but she said she leaves the garage door open all the time. I was able to get the snake off the trap unharmed. She has a little desert drainage behind her home and also a golf course nearby.

Mesa 85203 Longnosed Snake Homeowner in Mesa called about a snake in his garage. When I arrived I spotted the Longnose Snake stuck in a glue trap in a corner near the garage door. The seal on the garage was a bit worn out and had enough space for the small snake to enter even with the door closed. I was able to free the snake relatively easy and after adjusting his jaw he seemed just fine and ready to get back out into a better place.

Mesa 85215 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowner called stating their young nephew was in the back yard behind the workshop area where rocks are piled and he ran in informing him he spotted a rattlesnake, the homeowner found the snake actively crawling along the rocks, they tracked it as long as they could while waiting on my arrival. When I arrived the homeowner met me outside the garage/workshop and led me to the back door where it was first seen then guided me along the path to a gate where they last saw it suspecting it went under a large plastic chest. However the snake was not under the chest so I followed the wall behind the gated area where there were piles of brick and tile and spotted the snakes head poking out from under the tiles. I got the Rattlesnake out and contained it in the bucket for release into desert habitat away from buildings. The home is situated in a built up series of gated communities but not far from some natural desert preserve areas, there is lots of new construction near by. The snake was driven up to the desert habitat beyond the construction area and small mining operation and put into a pack rat nest.

Mesa 85207 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowners called after going to take their trash out to the road and they heard the buzzing of a small rattlesnake. They spotted the snake and called our hotline to which I came out and the snake was as described behind the garbage cans. The snake was extremely small still for this time of year, but I noticed that it had some old injuries that looked as though they had healed at this point. Perhaps stunting its growth a bit. I contained the snake and brought it to the next nearby desert habitat and released it appropriately into deep cover with lots of nearby resources. The home it was relocated from is in a gated community that sits against the mountainside of a small local Mountain with lots of natural habitat. The home has partially block fencing and partially view fencing, but we discussed the potential of rattlesnake-proofing their backyard. They also have dogs. They are interested in getting rattlesnake aversion training or at least doing the fencing to protect them in the backyard.

Maricopa 85138 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Defer payment by 3 months. The homeowners have lived in this horse 6 days. They are from Chicago. Saturday they noticed blood and puss on there dogs nose they thought it got poked by a cactus. They noticed some swelling so they took it to the vet. The vet ran some tests and said it was a snake bite. They had a shed that didn’t have much in it and was kind of light so we took everything out and lifted it up. Sure enough a juvenile western diamondback was coiled underneath. The dog is expected to make a full recovery.

Maricopa 85138 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowner saw the snake sitting on top of a bush in her backyard. Once she walked closer to snap a pic it disappeared into the bush. This was a pretty dense bush. I poked around lifted up the sides looked and looked and nothing. I then searched nearby bushes. I couldn’t find it so I went back to the original bush and dug deeper. At the center of the bush, there was a big indent like a rabbit had dug it then right in the corner I saw a little snake head. I went to grab it and it came out. It was a western diamondback. I kind of thought it would have been a gophersnake since she said it was sitting on top of the bush. She has a view fence in the back and brick on the sides. Behind her house, she has a golf course and desert not too far from that.

Maricopa 85139 Mojave Rattlesnake The homeowner had taken the siding off her mobile home yesterday and sprayed “snake away” under there to prep for an AC guy coming out tomorrow. Tonight when she let her dogs out they were barking at a Mojave under her mobile home right where she sprayed that stuff. I was able to get the snake. They have a big property right in the middle of the desert with a chain-link fence.

I found the snake behind the bed it was a large 3.5 foot gophersnake. It seemed like the snake oh in through the door screen because it was not sealed well. The home is out in the middle of nowhere with desert all around and they have chickens everywhere.

Maricopa 85138 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowner saw the snake coiled up by his front door last night at midnight. It was still there this morning so he called. The snakes hemipenes were hanging out and bloody. There was a little blood trail across the guys driveway where the snake slithered from. That was the only visible injury so I’m not sure if it was clipped by a car or what happened. The snake was acting fine. There was a wash right behind the community but the desert connected to it was under construction for a storage facility.

Maricopa 85138 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Received call about a rattlesnake in a garage at a home in Maricopa. When I arrived at the home the homeowner and daughter were standing outside of the garage. Homeowner pointed in the area he last saw the snake. Customer stated that while he never saw the snake (his wife did) he had kept his eyes on the garage and nothing had exited. After initial inspection of the garage was unsuccessful I asked the homeowner again if he had his eyes on the garage for the entire time (I was an hour away). Customer then stated that he did briefly leave to lock his back gate. I then moved outside to check the perimeter of the home. Customer had a hesperaloe just off the front porch area and I noted an adult atrox in ambush underneath it. Used tongs to capture snake with no issue. Performed another inspection of the garage, front and backyards with no other snakes found. Backyard was various construction materials like bricks and tiles piled up in some of the corners. Inspected these areas well and and advised customer to clear those areas. Offered free fencing quote but customer declined. Though the neighborhood borders open desert I did not notice any access points close by. Subdivision has a wall surrounding the neighborhood but from what I could tell there were no drainage holes and definitely no desert washes going into the neighborhood. I suspect the snake may have lived in the neighborhood for some time.

Maricopa 85139 Sonoran Gophersnake The homeowner saw the snake yesterday in his water well. The well was in an enclosed room, but the lid had a hole in it where the snake must have fallen in. It was a very large well, and I could barely reach the snake with my tongs, but eventually it swam by and I snagged it. The home is surrounded by desert with very few other houses around.

Maricopa 85139 Mojave Rattlesnake The snake was coiled up by the back door of a model home in a new community. There were only three homes built but a lot of leveled out land that used to be this snake’s habitat. I took the snake away from the construction. There was desert on the outskirts of the community. There really wasn’t any vegetation near by. They cleared everything, the only shade the snake had was this back patio.
