2026-06-26 6:30 PM	Phoenix	85024	Western Diamondback Rattlesnake	The homeowner just sat down to relax in his backyard when he spotted a rattlesnake curled up in the shade of a nearby tree. I arrived at the home in North Phoenix and found the snake exactly where it had been when it was discovered. Surprisingly, this was the first snake seen on the property in years. The back yard had a view fence that opened up to a large drainage that connected to native desert across the street. There was some DIY mesh on the fence that had been poorly installed. It was full of gaps and holes, rendering it useless. There was a lot of thick landscaping, kids toys, a pool, and normal back yard clutter leaving lots of decent cover. I searched the rest of the yard and did not find any other snakes.

When I arrived the lizard was not where they said it was and I had to do a lot of moving around of storage supplies in a storage closet and eventually found and captured the lizard before driving it down the road to the local park where I released it into a rock pile
2026-06-27 6:30 AM	Phoenix	85020	Southwestern Speckled Rattlesnake	The Phoenix Mountain homeowner called reporting a rattlesnake she had seen since the night before in the same area by her front walkway into her home. The home is located directly beside the mountain going into the Phoenix Mountain Preserve. Most of the neighbors seem to have rattlesnake fencing except in the front areas of their driveways. When I arrived the snake was as described tucked into the corner of the front wall which had a brick facade. When I went to retrieve the snake, it began to tuck far back into the wall. When I realized the wall took a sharp left turn and had a large cavity for the snake to reside in. I confirmed with the owner that it was a southwestern speckled rattlesnake and proceeded to try to flood the snake out using a nearby garden hose. It took several attempts but finally the snake came out and I was able to contain it in a bucket and then find my way hiking into The Preserve where I went into a well-vegetated wash far from any buildings and found a deep caliche cavern to release the snake into the neighbors made me make a ticket to have their other gate fenced in a different part of the yard. They are also an existing customer. This current customer, where the snake was at their front door also already has areas rattlesnake fenced by us.

2026-06-28 11:00 PM	Phoenix	85085	Mojave Rattlesnake	Received a call regarding a rattlesnake on a front patio. The customer stated the neighbor attempted to contain the snake in a bucket, but it may or may not have been in the bucket. Arrived home and went into the south-facing entryway, where there was a covered patio. I noticed a snake in ambush on an east facing was somewhat behind a 5-gallon bucket that was on its side. Upon closer inspection, I noticed it was a scutulatus in ambush which surprised me as the home was east of North Valley Parkway and the nearest habitat was almost exclusively mountain terrain. Captured snake using tongs and bucketed it with no issue. Customers stated they noticed the snake initially in the general location where it was near the front door. The area would have plenty of shade most of the day and early morning. Performed inspection of the front and backyard with no other snakes found. There was washes running north and east of home. The backyard has a brick wall all around. The side yard in the east has a lattice brick for drainage and side yard on the west has a gate. The family has three medium-sized dogs which are often out back. Offered a free fencing quote and they accepted.

2026-07-12 9:00 AM	Phoenix	85085	Western Diamondback Rattlesnake	Caller reported a rattlesnake at the front door. Upon arrival, the snake was already under a bucket on the driveway. I was able to quickly contain the snake in my bucket and provided room-temperature water. The property is free from excessively overgrown plants. However, they do have numerous plants in the rear yard with a great deal of water, but all in an elevated position. The front door is pretty deeply recessed and was probably just a temporary stop for thermoregulation. No other snakes were removed.

The snake, immediately identified as a Speckled Rattlesnake, was coiled at the root system of a mesquite tree. The homeowner was watering and it was clear the snake was enjoying the added humidity and cool ground. I was able to quickly and safely capture the snake without incident. No other snakes were recovered from the property.
2026-07-13 8:00 AM	Phoenix	85027	Western Diamondback Rattlesnake	An employee at a warehouse called after seeing a rattlesnake near some stacked-up pallets. By the time I arrived, the snake had moved into the shade of a large trailer. The warehouse was adjacent to Deer Valley Airport. The only small patch of native habitat nearby was part of the airport and not accessible to me. Nobody that I talked to at the facility had ever seen a snake on the property before. I had to drive down the road a little over a mile before I got to a patch of state trust land where I could release the snake.

He saw then that the dog had been bitten by a rattlesnake. He got the dog to the vet and called. After a long search, I found the snake in some thick saw grass covered pretty well and hard to see. The home had a view fence and had some desert behind it. A lot of the desert behind their home has become 2000 new homes. They still have quite a bit of desert on the other side of their home just outside the community.

When I arrived I discovered that it was actually a large Gophersnake that was stuck to two glue traps and attempting to eat a large mouse that was stuck to another glue trap. I was able to free the snake relatively easily with cooking spray and the snake was unharmed. Home is right up against a desert preserve and the homeowner said that rats are able to access her bathroom sink via faulty piping under the home so the snake must have found its way inside the home that way.

When I arrived they had the snake in a bucket in the sun. They said the snake was slithering onto the hot asphalt. I don’t know how true that was. They then said they put it in a bucket but the bucket was in the sun. When I opened the bucket the gravid female speck was limp. She never came back, either. This community is on south mountain preserve. The side where the snake was backs right up to a hillside.

When I arrived the Western Diamondback was slithering through the parking lot, looking pretty lost. The area is surrounded by desert but is undergoing development so the animals are likely being displaced at this point.
