I moved all the boxes and found both the western diamondbacks and one had shed its skin under there so they have probably been there awhile. They have a brick fence all the way around and an RV gate. They live really close to the open desert. |

They have had a few others stuck to the glue traps as well. They have small gaps in the side of the garage door. Arrived at home, greeted customers at the door and was escorted to back patio area. Customer stated their children first noticed it and that it had gone underneath the grill cover which was on the ground. Lifted up cover and observed a young atrox in ambush. Not a neonate but I’m not certain it was a yearling either. Used giant tweezers to capture snake and place in bucket with no issue. Inspected backyard. Yard was neat and tidy with few if any places for a snake to seek refuge. Two points of entry to backyard. The side gate on the east side of the house and lattice cinderblock for drainage in the wall on the west side of the home. I suspect snake entered through the latter as it was closest to desert wash. Inspected front yard and noticed no snakes. Offered to inspect the garage and found no snakes. Customer stated this is 2nd rattlesnake they’ve seen in their yard with the first one being in September of 2022. Customer showed me video of that snake and I confirmed it was an adult atrox. Offered customer for the fence team to reach out for a free estimate. Customer agreed and stated they were also interested in dog training. |

As I walked up to the front door I noticed a small adult male atrox in defensive posture rattling. Customer would later state that they noticed the snake near the garage in the east side of home and walked right next to it before it started rattling. Used tongs to capture snake with no incident. Snake was noted to rattle from the time I arrived until I released it. Performed an inspection of front and backyard. Both yards kept neat and tidy. Backyard was surrounded by brick wall with only two points of entry which was side gait and drainage hole on opposite sides. Pointed these both out to customer and offered free fencing quote to which he declined. I believe snake came from desert to the north via small wash that ran to the west of the property. House was second from the corner. Provided education on snake behavior. |

Quoted vet and they asked me to come out. Greeted the dog owner when there who gave me the address near where the snake was picked up which was in Goodyear. Owner of dog said he was at neighborhood park with the dog and snake bit the dog. Owner said that he had worked at an exotic pet store in the past so he had experience handling hots. Customer placed snake in pillowcase that was tied off at the end and placed in a shoebox sealed with masking tape. Owner showed me a video of snake and confirmed it was a small adult atrox. I transferred the snake into my bucket utilizing tongs. Being the vet office was close to my residence I decided to keep the snake overnight and released it in Goodyear the following evening. |
