They watched it go under the building which is elevated with skirting. I could not see the snake under there. While looking around I found another rattlesnake coiled up under a near by ac unit. The schools grounds are clear but they are surround by desert and a nice wash.

The snake then went in the wall gap between his yard and his neighbors yard. I had to go over there and push it back in the gentleman’s yard who called. The home had a partial view fence that backed up to a desert area. The yard had some vegetation but nothing to over grown.

9:00 AM		 Cave Creek 85331 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Rattlesnake back yard. Arrived and found adult western daimabdbsck rattlesnake coiled behind an agave plant above the rock water gesture near her pool. Snake was quite skinny and showed signs of dehydration/wrinkled skin. Customer said this is her 2nd rattlesnake in a week and she believes them to be coming from construction on other side of street from her development which is very likely due to the size of the disturbance.

10:00 PM		 Cave Creek 85331 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Received a call of a rattlesnake in front porch from a previous customer. Arrived to home and was greeted by the customer in the driveway. Customer stated that as he left the front door to go to his car he heard a small “tick” and noticed the snake on the front door. Customer kept eyes on the snake until I arrived. I noticed a large juvenile atrox underneath some hiding to the right of the front door. Utilized large tweezers to capture snake as hit still seemed almost neonate as there were only 2 buttons. It seemed large for its age. Asked customer if he’d like me to inspect and he seemed indifferent as his home is almost entirely surrounded by habitat. I offered to inspect garage and he agreed. Garage was cluttered with signs of rodent activity all over (as well as the front porch where snake was found). Found no snakes upon brief inspection but I didn’t inspect it as thoroughly as I could have. Customer didn’t seem concerned. Since home was completely surrounded by habitat and no back fence it did not seem appropriate to offer fencing quote.

4:00 PM		 Cave Creek 85331 Sonoran Gophersnake Received dispatch and called customer stating I was 30minutes away. Was greeted by husband at the side gate and he escorted me into the backyard. He stated that he saw a diamond pattern but was not able to see the tail. Customer stated that he did not hear a rattle. Informed the customer that I believed there was a good change it could be a gophersnake due to the area and where the house was situated in the neighborhood. The neighborhood was amongst a golf course and though there were washes that ran through it they were landscaped and manicured. There was no real deep desert, so to speak, that was nearby. Customer informed me where the snake was and I went into the smaller shaded side yard on the east side of the house. Against the house was a bicycle that was covered by a plastic tarp. I lifted the tarp utilizing my tongs and immediately noticed the medium sized gophersnake curled underneath the eve of the stucco wall. Used hands to capture snake and bucket with no issues. Snake was mellow and did not hiss once. Once bucketed I performed an inspection of the rest of the yard. No other snakes found. I informed the customer that I believed the snake entered though the drainage blocks of the cinder block wall on the east side of the home and was likely seeking refuge from the mid-afternoon sun. Customer stated that he had a coachwhip stuck on a glue trap some years back but has never seen a rattlesnake. I informed customer that that was not surprising and that due to where his home was situated in the neighborhood I believed that the chance of a rattlesnake encounter at this property was low but certainly not zero. Provided customer with education on differences in colubrid snakes and rattlesnakes. There were several children at the home who wished to see the snake and with the customer’s permission I took the snake out of the bucket with hook and eased it into my hands. I showed the children the gophersnake from a safe distance as they did not want to touch it.

The customer indicated that a neighbor has a large pile of wood on the other side of the fence where there is a drip line and access to their property through drain block. They are aware of the rattlesnake fencing and will be contacting us.

It was moving and slithered under the near by AC unit. I was able to poke it out and grab it. The back yard didn’t have any vegetation but she had desert around her home and had a view fence.

I placed the snake in the relocation bucket and at another location applied oil and removed the snake from the trap. The property was in close proximity to the open desert, and the owner regularly saw other snakes.

They weren’t concerned about the yard being open and know it’s just part of desert living. Customer stated that the snake rattlesnake was seen 2 days prior but disappeared after encountering customer. Snake likely hiding under this burrow for some time

3:00 PM		 Cave Creek 85331 Sonoran Gophersnake This homeowner called about a large rattlesnake in their backyard. Upon arrival it was determined that it was just a large gopher snake, however, they still wanted it removed. There were a few entry points in the side gates of the backyard. The back wall had some drainage holes, but they were all covered with fine mesh. The backyard was very large, with some grass and a lot of shady bushes… multiple good hiding spots for any reptile. The snake was taken across the street and hiked into the nearby patch of desert where it was released into a large packrat nest above a small wash and away from homes.

By the time I arrived, the snake had gone through a drain block on the front side of the wall and was hanging out by the wall. The homeowners “snake fence” had large rectangular holes that all kinds of things could have gotten through. The back fence backed up to a wash which was the likely entry point.

She said some quail were harassing it, and it moved into a nearby rosemary bush. I found the snake coiled up under that rosemary. She has extensive rosemary in the front yard and a bird feeder. She has our fencing installed in the backyard and courtyard. The community retains natural desert landscaping throughout.

11:00 AM		 Cave Creek 85331 Sonoran Gophersnake The homeowner noticed she had about 17 quail eggs in a pot in the backyard. Over the last few days, she realized they had been disappearing. This morning, she saw a gophersnake slither away from the pot and into a nearby drain pipe in the ground. I started to flood the pipe, but the water just kept going and I wasn’t sure where the pipe ended. After about 15 minutes, the gophersnake finally showed its head, and several minutes later it fully emerged. It was a smaller gophersnake and did not have eggs in its belly, so I’m not sure who else had been snacking. I checked the rest of the yard, which was within our fencing, and didn’t see anything.

6:00 PM		 Cave Creek 85331 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake The homeowner spotted this rattlesnake hanging out underneath a bush in her yard while she was doing yard work. One side of the property had open fencing all the way to the ground, which was the likely entry point. This was our second visit to this property this year. The homeowner understands the risks associated with desert living and has no problem with the snakes coming and going. This one had decided to hang out for a while, so it was time to go. It was relocated just outside the neighborhood into a large pack rat nest underneath a bush.

Upon inspection, I could not identify a clear point where the snake had penetrated the fence or gate. The only questionable area was the overhanging trees from the neighbor’s wide-open yard that extended into the property. With a known pack rat problem, my assumption is that the snake saw potential prey from the branches of the overhanging trees and went for it. This western diamondback was seen by the homeowner while out in the yard picking up after their dog. The snake was curled up next to a bike tire. There were small gaps by the gate and the back of the yard also had a few openings but I believe it came in through the gap between the house and the wall. The yard was full of snake loving landscape, low bushes with debris under them. Quick easy capture and hiked into the desert for a release into a pack rat nest. The “rattlesnake” turned out to be a feisty, bright orange gopher snake that likely entered the property through the back view fence, where I found three pack rat nests. I gave the snake a quick trip out to the desert and released it into a new pack rat nest.
