Waddell | 85355 | Sonoran Gophersnake | The homeowner reported a rattlesnake in the shed. I came out to the area and inspected and found a large gopher snake instead. The gopher snake was very agitated, making lots of sound and rattling its tail, so it is very understandable why the homeowner assumed it was a rattlesnake. |

Waddell | 85355 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | Arrived to customer’s home and was escorted to the back patio. Customer pointed out a small mini fridge that had not been used for some time and was unplugged. Customer said they saw snake the previous day and it was half sticking out from underneath fridge. The back of the fridge was facing towards me and there was 1/4” mesh attached to the lower back half presumably to keep critters out. After a few glances I noticed a large atrox in ambush in the corner of the fridge. Snake had perched itself on a bottom panel so it was not on the ground. So if I were to tip the fridge on its side, the snake would have tipped up with it. Used power drill to remove one side of the mesh. Since the snake was in a tight area where tongs would not have worked, I used the tongs to hold back the mesh while I used hook to retrieve and bucket the snake without incident. Customer stated they thought the snake they saw was bigger than the one I captured. Snake was docile and did not rattle. Did an inspection of backyard. Very big yard. At least an acre. Rural/agricultural area. Many areas in the yard where snakes can seek refuge or den. Woodpiles, garden areas, overgrown plants, trim piles, etc. Fencing would not be appropriate for yard. Provided customer with education on snake behavior and pointed areas I was most concerned with. |

Waddell | 85355 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The homeowner called about a rattlesnake that was coiled up next to a potted plant just outside of a gate leading to the front yard. The snake had rattled at him as he was exiting to the driveway. The home is located very close to the desert with lots of great snake habitat. * The home already had snake fencing installed when the current owner moved in. He wanted someone to come out to the house and do an assessment of the current fence to see if it needs any maintenance. This snake was found outside of the current fencing. |

Waddle | 85355 | Mojave Rattlesnake | A real estate company called from a new development and reported a small/baby Rattlesnake in the front entrance of the model home. The very kind agent felt comfortable enough to place a wire trash can over the small snake and place a rock over top before we could get out to them, she even took lengths to pour water on the sides for the snake during its wait for relocation. Once I had arrived I was directed to the shaded entrance where the snake was contained, and lifted the trash can to gently transfer the rattlesnake into the bucket for transport. I walked around the rest of the model home and inspected for further snakes with no others found. The community is full of new construction within an ideal desert habitat running along the White Tanks Preserve area. |

Tonopah | 85354 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake, Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The homeowner was remodeling his home when he took out a wall and saw a rattlesnake coiled inside. This is an old home and it has a basement. There was a hole on the outside of the stucco that allowed the rattlesnakes to get in. There ended up being two snakes, both snakes were coiled right by one another. He found two snakes skins further down the wall earlier. The home has nothing but miles of desert around it. |

Tonopah | 85354 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | This lady was having work done in an underground room that had the water heater in it. The guy doing the work opened the door and instantly got rattled at. He dropped his things and got out of there. When I walked in the snake did rattle and then I saw it on a near by shelf about eye level. The snake had shed its skin down there and was probably getting cozy for winter. The home had a lot of desert around it and plenty of places on the property for a snake to hide, like a workshop that wasn’t sealed well and lots of stacked debris. |

Tonopah | 85354 | Sonoran Gophersnake | The homeowner saw a sidewinder in her backyard yesterday afternoon, but it had gone into a rodent hole by her chicken coop. She tried watering it out but it didn’t show its face again. Today she was watering it out again and she saw a head poke out and it ended up being a gophersnake so she kept that one. We never did see the sidewinder. She has a large acre lot but there isn’t any vegetation on it. She does have a shed and shipping container in the back yard that I looked under as best I could. The fence is all mesh around the yard. |

Tonopah | 85354 | Sidewinder | Rattlesnake observed at the job site near the delivery office. The crew had been watching it; it remained in the same spot for several hours before they decided to call. The listed address is inaccurate and was only used because it is the closest one to the site. The job site is in the early stages of construction and is surrounded by open desert on all sides, with no homes nearby. The sidewinder appeared to be a healthy female, though relatively small for its age (estimated to be several years old based on the rattle). It did not strike or rattle and seemed quite tired, though in my experience this species tends to be more docile when captured. |

Tonopah | 85354 | Mojave Rattlesnake | This tiny sidewinder who couldn’t be more than a very under year old, was found at a large solar panel construction site. It was released into a large well fed wash. There was a large tree at the side of the wash with a plethora of pat rack nest and ground squirrel holes. |

Tonopah | 85354 | Mojave Rattlesnake | Rattlesnake in a machine part in a "cubby hole"; they were watching it. Arrived and found a large adult Mojave rattlesnake sitting under a shipping container. Captured the snake. Was made aware that a baby had also been seen. After a few minutes of waiting, a small neonate Mojave rattlesnake emerged from under the container and was captured using tweezers. Waited a bit longer and flushed the hole with a bucket of water; no other snakes emerged. Reports from other workers indicate the other babies had already dispersed. |

Tonopah | 85354 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | A homeowner in Tonopah called about a rattlesnake outside their back door. The Western Diamondback was curled up against the side of the home when I arrived. Tons of open desert, no fences at all in this yard. Lots of wood piles and access points for snakes to get under the home. Recommended that the homeowners clean up some of the debris and seal off the access points because they are completely surrounded by rattlesnake habitat with no barrier. Snake was released into a large pack rat nest in a wash that was within its estimated home range. |

Arrived on site and investigated the area mentioned by the customer who called. Upon arrival, several neighbors arrived and informed me the snake was spotted at another location in the neighborhood which was announced on next door I drove to that location and inspected the entire green belt area. During the inspection, the adult son of the person who spotted the snake informed me that what was actually spotted was a large palm leaf blowing across the road at 2 pm today. Informed HOA president that we offer free identification and that if the “snake” is spotted again, to contact our hotline directly and watch it which will be relayed on the same forum |

Sun City | 85351 | Mojave Rattlesnake | Owner stated recent construction directly behind her house along Agua Fria riverbed likely drove snake into her yard though decorative opening in block fence. Inspected property, concurred, advised owner to cover those openings and neighbors do same. Snake was originally sighted under patio chair, had moved to side of house under chain link gate. Relocated further north along riverbed to nearest safe heavy cover. |

Phoenix | 85351 | Nightsnake | Received a call from adult children of a homeowner about a small snake in bedroom. While they coordinated with the homeowner the relayed a picture of me which I ID’d as a desert nightsnake. Provided education on the animal and encouraged homeowner to capture it themself. Homeowner declined and agreed with quote. Arrived at the home and was greeted by homeowner’s grandchildren. I was shown to the bedroom and noted the snake between the baseboard and leg of computer desk. Captured snake using hands without incident and let grandchildren pet the snake with permission from homeowner. After quick inspection of the home I believe the snake entered through the back door as family reported having the door open often to let dogs in and out. Homeowner stated this is the first snake she had seen in the neighborhood and asked questions about rattlesnakes. I assured the customer that there was no good habitat nearby for rattlesnakes and she didn’t have to worry about them. Provided education on the colubrid snakes that do well near golf courses. |

Sun City | 85351 | Mojave Rattlesnake | The homeowner went to take out his trash last night and spotted the snake under his trash can. This is an underground trash can, so he was just under the lid. This morning he still spotted the snake under the lid so he gave us a call. It started to heat up in that time the snake must have tried to get into some deeper cover and it fell into the trash can, so it could not get out at that point. I was able to grab it and save a gecko that fell in as well. The home was right by a drainage that leads to the open river bottom. |

They have had a few others stuck to the glue traps as well. They have small gaps in the side of the garage door. I recommend fixing and tossing out the traps because they had a few dead geckos on them. |

Peoria | 85345 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | Received a call about a rattlesnake that had bit a dog and the owner of dog brought it to the vet. Quoted vet and they asked me to come out. Greeted the dog owner when there who gave me the address near where the snake was picked up which was in Goodyear. Owner of dog said he was at neighborhood park with the dog and snake bit the dog. Owner said that he had worked at an exotic pet store in the past so he had experience handling hots. Customer placed snake in pillowcase that was tied off at the end and placed in a shoebox sealed with masking tape. Owner showed me a video of snake and confirmed it was a small adult atrox. I transferred the snake into my bucket utilizing tongs. Being the vet office was close to my residence I decided to keep the snake overnight and released it in Goodyear the following evening. |

Litchfield Park | 85340 | Sonoran Gophersnake | Was initially called for rattlesnake in back patio. While en route to the property, the customer texted photos, and I ID’d the snake as a Sonoran Gopher snake. Arrived on property and was escorted to backyard by customer. Noticed snake peeking it’s head out from behind grill cover which was on the ground in the patio. Approached snake and as it attempted to crawl away I captured it by hand. Sizable snake approximately a meter in length. Performed inspection of backyard and no other snakes noted. Back yard was pretty much free of clutter. Noted a few areas where snake may hide unnoticed and pointed them out to customer. Drainage block in the wall of the side yard to the south is where I suspect snake entered from. Looking at map the snake likely came from canal to the west of the home. |

10:00 PM |
Litchfield Park | 85340 | Mojave Rattlesnake | Received call about rattlesnake in the backyard. Arrived at the property and was met by customers who escorted to the backyard. Husband was in the backyard watching the snake. Noted an adult scutulatus in defensive posture in the gravel on west side of yard. Used gentle tongs to capture snake without issue. Inspected the remaining backyard and no other snakes found. Customer stated their dog was outside who alerted them of the snake’s presence. Customer stated when he first saw the snake it was against the wall of the north side of yard. Customer stated the snake slowly made its way to where I observed it while he waited for my arrival. Snake was noted to be mellow but observant. Snake did not rattle until it was secured in the bucket. Snake was older as evidenced by sizable and uniform rattle. Yard was not large and was kept neat and mostly free of anything a snake could seek refuge long term. Upon inspection the customer pointed out two areas in the block wall that had sizable gaps in the masonry one of which I suppose a snake may have been able to get through but not easily. I suspect the snake likely entered through the gate of the side yard on the north end of the property as this is where the snake was moving towards once it was discovered. There was desert access in the neighborhood however it was ten houses to the east. Informed customer that I believed the snake entered through the gate and offered free fencing quote. Customer stated he was a contractor and would patch the gate himself. Side yard on the west end of the property had a few patches of fountain grass with a condenser drain between them with water puddling up. Pointed this out to customer encouraged customer to remove the grass as it was invasive and it would eliminate a hiding spot for a snake. |

Litchfield Park | 85340 | Western Diamondback Rattlesnake | The homeowner’s pool guy spotted the snake as he was about to enter the backyard. The snake was coiled next to the house in the side yard. The property didn’t have any vegetation, but it did back up to the desert. |

Litchfield Park | 85340 | Longnosed Snake | A house sitter called and said she had a snake stuck in a hole in the side of the home she was staying at. I arrived and found a longnosed snake stuck several inches up into a very small hole in a metal bracket on the underside of the stucco. The snake had been there for several hours and seemed unable to back out or move further up into the wall. I used some cooking oil and very gently and very slowly worked the snake out. It took about 10 minutes. The snake came out cold and stressed but did not seem to have any injuries at all. |

Litchfield Park | 85340 | Sonoran Gophersnake | The homeowner was alerted by his dog barking at something outside. While investigating, he heard a distinct rattling coming from under an old nightstand that had been sitting near the front porch for some time. He was convinced it was a rattlesnake and called us right away. I arrived a short time later and lifted the nightstand to find a very large, hissing gophersnake. Although not the rattlesnake that he thought it was, the homeowner still wanted the snake removed from the property. This home sat on the outskirts of Litchfield Park and was not in a developed neighborhood. The White Tank Mountains and State Trust land were a short distance just to the west. On the property, there were a lot of items like car parts, tires, and old appliances scattered about, making for a lot of great hiding spots. I searched the entire property but did not find any additional snakes. |

1:00 PM |
Litchfield Park | 85340 | Sonoran Gophersnake | The homeowners had a potted plant in a shaded area of their back porch. In addition to a large house plant, the planter also contained a quail nest with eggs. The homeowner was checking on the eggs and was surprised to find that a small Gophersnake had made itself at comfortable right on top of the eggs. I carefully removed the snake and found that all of the quail eggs remained intact. This home was located in the far west valley, not far from White Tank Mountain. The homeowners were working on a landscaping project and had a lot of new, well irrigated plants. I was told that the back gate normally stays closed but had been left open frequently during the project. There were also narrow gaps about every 10 feet along the block wall large enough for a small snake to easily fit through. I searched the rest of the property but did not find any other snakes. |
