10:00 AM
Scottsdale 85266 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Arrived at customer’s home and greeted at the front porch. Customer advised I jump pony wall instead of going through entry gate as she feared the snake was by there. Customer stated pest control company spotted snake near front door and customer watched snake crawl towards the garden hose. When customer pointed in direction of the snake I noticed it was moving towards front gate. Went over and noticed female atrox crawling under stucco towards front gate. Snake paused behind agave and I used tongs and hook to capture. Snake was larger and able to escape from bucket twice before I was able to put lid on it. I placed bucket in the shade and performed inspection of the property. Pony wall around entire property. Desert wash behind home but high wall. There were 4 gates I noticed leading to a casita that had no snake fencing. All sides of the home were neat, tidy, and all plants were properly manicured. Minimal places for snake to hide unnoticed. Noticed a boulder with hole going underneath and offered to use garden hose to flood it. I did so and no animals seen exiting the cave. Offered customer a free fencing quote and she accepted. Snake obviously entered through gate which was the only entry point.

However, I noticed that there were large gaps in the corners of the garage, which suggested that the snake may have entered and exited through them.

Scottsdale 85266 Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Received a call about rattlesnake in backyard. Customer said that RS was out the previous week and that she noticed the snake in the same area as the first one. When I arrived I noticed a subadult atrox in ambush underneath a play slide in the middle of an astroturf lawn. Utilized tongs to capture snake and bucket with no incident. Customer pointed out where she initially found snake which was a small corner of the home that was underneath a drainage pipe on the north side. Inspected rest of the yard but found no other snakes. Yard was large but neat and tidy. Customer said she had landscapers trim Dodonaea bushes around the perimeter. Customer stated RS gave her a fencing estimate and that she was going to call after I left to make appointment for installation. I suspect snake entered through the side gate on the west side of home as it offered the least resistance though snake may have entered through any number of drainage holes in the wall that were covered in 1/2” mesh.
