Saw customer and saw a subadult atrox along the corner of the home. Captured snake utilizing tongs with no issue. Performed inspection on remainder of back yard. Gates had DIY 1/4” mesh up. Asked customer if they’d be interested in a free fencing quote and they agreed. Home is on rocky mountainside facing south-sw. Customer had large lantana and bougainvillea that were overgrown and had dense leaf litter. Provided education on snake behavior and advised them to trim back both plants. No other snakes found on property. I suspect snake may have entered from hill side which ran up the east side of the property. |

Phoenix | 85020 | Southwestern Speckled Rattlesnake | Received a call from security guard at the Hilton stating they had a rattlesnake captured and the needed it taken away. Arrived at property and met security guards opposite the pool entrance. Security guards had snake in a canvas bag and stated they used tongs to capture it. The bag was sort of rigged like a pool net so guard held out the bag with a handle and I confirmed snake was a pyrrhus. I used tongs to transfer snake from bag into my bucket. Snake was very docile and inquisitive. Snake held its head upright and stared at myself and security guards. Snakes movements seemed sluggish but I saw no visible signs of injury. I asked security guards how/where they found it and they replied “over by the falls. Someone just saw it so I came and grabbed it”. When asked to elaborate the area where snake was first discovered guard just pointed to the NE. That area of the resort is the closest that faces open habitat. |

The homeowner expressed concern over his dog who alerted him of the snake, so I educated them on rattlesnake fencing and rattlesnake aversion training both of which they were very interested in. |

Arrived at home and was greeted by the family who showed me where they had last seen the snake move. The family said they saw a snake go under a small go-kart with a fabric covering it. I moved the go-kart and observed a small atrox in ambush in some plant debris. Captured snake using tongs and bucketed it with no issue. Performed inspection of front and backyard. No other snakes were found. Large property but has mostly brick walls surrounding it with several gate access points. The family said they have a large dog. Offered a free fencing quote and they accepted. I suspect the snake was traveling through the neighborhood from a nearby wash. The customer also stated the neighborhood block has seen a lot of construction recently. |

Phoenix | 85020 | Southwestern Speckled Rattlesnake | The Phoenix Mountain homeowner called reporting a rattlesnake she had seen since the night before in the same area by her front walkway into her home. The home is located directly beside the mountain going into the Phoenix Mountain Preserve. Most of the neighbors seem to have rattlesnake fencing except in the front areas of their driveways. When I arrived the snake was as described tucked into the corner of the front wall which had a brick facade. When I went to retrieve the snake, it began to tuck far back into the wall. When I realized the wall took a sharp left turn and had a large cavity for the snake to reside in. I confirmed with the owner that it was a southwestern speckled rattlesnake and proceeded to try to flood the snake out using a nearby garden hose. It took several attempts but finally the snake came out and I was able to contain it in a bucket and then find my way hiking into The Preserve where I went into a well-vegetated wash far from any buildings and found a deep caliche cavern to release the snake into the neighbors made me make a ticket to have their other gate fenced in a different part of the yard. They are also an existing customer. This current customer, where the snake was at their front door also already has areas rattlesnake fenced by us. |

The snake, immediately identified as a Speckled Rattlesnake, was coiled at the root system of a mesquite tree. The homeowner was watering and it was clear the snake was enjoying the added humidity and cool ground. I was able to quickly and safely capture the snake without incident. No other snakes were recovered from the property. |

When I arrived I discovered that it was actually a large Gophersnake that was stuck to two glue traps and attempting to eat a large mouse that was stuck to another glue trap. I was able to free the snake relatively easily with cooking spray and the snake was unharmed. Home is right up against a desert preserve and the homeowner said that rats are able to access her bathroom sink via faulty piping under the home so the snake must have found its way inside the home that way. |
