It has been dead for a few days. Search the yard and found no evidence of other animals. In the front, I found a shed skin from an old gopher snake.

The homeowner had stepped over it multiple times before seeing it. The yard had full-view fencing covering 3/4 of the backyard and many low bushes for this guy to hang out in. The capture required a hook to coox the snake out but then an easy grab and relocation to a nice desert spot where a man made rock pile had turned into a giant packrat nest.

When I got there I could see part of the snakes body poking out from underneath the heater, once I started to coax it out a second snake came out the other side. I got that one in the bucket and tried again with the first snake. The remaining one was clearly a gravid female and she wedged herself underneath there really good. I used water to try and flood her out while using my hook and eventually was able to grab her. This yard backs up to desert and the snakes had a perfect spot under the pool heater where the dirt was already damp and it was shaded and cool. The previous homeowners did their own snake fencing but it was old and had many gaps. There was also two holes in the wall surrounding the pool heater units that lead out to the desert. The yard is mostly open but there were a few other spots where a snake could hunker down in the future. They are interested in fencing.

Area where snake was found is in the center of a farm. A walk around of the farm revealed a significant amount of clutter and evidence of rodents but no significant evidence that snakes had been spending significant time in the area however with the wealth of hiding places and water sources it is likely. The property sits at the mouth of a large and resource rich wash that is likely a pathway for rattlesnakes coming from the preserve area

Arrived and found healthy adult western diamondback attempting to navigate a pile of pallets and rubber stall mats that had accumulated on the west side of the pottery. The snake had realized it was being watched and was attempting to get away. Captured snake upon arrival. Discussed with customer the risk these piles pose. Suggested offfering them up for free on marketplace as a means of getting rid of places to hide so close to the open desert (and horses)

Yesterday, when they were getting ready for an event inside, what used to be a garage area with garage doors, they spotted a rattlesnake between some chairs. She thought it was dead, so she just left it. Today, when they went to remove the snake because they’re having their event, they noticed it wasn’t there. It was coiled underneath the chairs, so they knew it was alive, and they called me to come and remove it. The garage doors did have some gaps where it could get in and there were areas within this garage that it could have hidden for the majority of the winter without being seen. The whole property was on a desert hillside with miles and miles of desert surrounding it.

Unfortunately, the rain from the night did wipe out many of the indicators to correctly track and pinpoint vermin location. With that being said, it was still fairly evident that more uprooting of the landscape has escalated even further since my last visit. The photographs I included last time did a decent job illustrating the extent and severity of damage, but these photos will better illustrate the scale at which these animals are working, and how close to the household they are getting. It is crucial that some pest management is undertaken, as it would be a shame to watch these creatures destroy more of the Logan’s beautiful property than they already have

The storm from the previous night had blown debris around, and they were out cleaning up. When I arrived, the snake had already moved to deep cover under a tree at the end of a wash. I saw a hole and started flooding it out, and that is when the mother and babies started coming out. I was able to capture two babies and the mother but saw more babies that I was unable to retrieve. The house had no fence and backed up to wide-open desert in Rio Verde.

The homes here are all really spread out and surrounded by desert.

When I arrived at 6:45 the overcast was still drizzling on the property and the temperature was a cool 75 degrees. Being as the rain is still present and that the southeastern part of the property is undergoing heavy cosmetic surgery, most snakes are likely staying hidden until the storm passes and some heat comes out. At that point, I expect a lot of animal activity on the property seeing as the storms have seemed to displace a lot of shrubbery and soil, which may cause confusion and roaming onto the beautiful property..
