Position Overview

Rattlesnake Solutions is Arizona’s leading rattlesnake mitigation and relocation organization, specializing in safe, humane conflict resolution between native wildlife and urban environments. We are seeking a disciplined, professional Snake Relocation Specialist to join our field team.

This is not a hobby position, and it is not adrenaline-based work. This is public safety, wildlife conservation, and professional field service in one of the most demanding environmental conditions in the country.

The Snake Relocation Specialist responds to residential and commercial calls for snake encounters, safely captures and relocates reptiles in compliance with Arizona Game and Fish regulations, educates homeowners, and represents the company with professionalism and calm authority.

Note: we are not looking to work with individuals who see this type of work, or snakes, as an attention-seeking vehicle. While it will always be interesting, we are not looking for anyone who will have a problem with working with our tools and rules of conduct. If you are looking to build a social media following from your work with Rattlesnake Solutions, please do not apply.

Core Responsibilities

  • Respond to on-demand snake removal calls during scheduled shifts
  • Safely capture and relocate venomous and non-venomous reptiles using approved tools and protocols
  • Evaluate properties for attractants and provide prevention guidance to homeowners
  • Communicate clearly and calmly with frightened residents
  • Maintain accurate documentation of relocation activity
  • Adhere strictly to safety standards and AZGFD Wildlife Services requirements
  • Operate independently in desert, residential, and commercial environments
  • Represent Rattlesnake Solutions professionally at all times

Work Environment

This position involves:

  • Working alone in the field
  • Operating in extreme Arizona heat
  • Hiking uneven desert terrain
  • Navigating cluttered yards, garages, and construction zones
  • Bending, lifting, kneeling, and moving heavy objects
  • Responding to time-sensitive calls

Candidates must be physically capable and comfortable working outdoors for extended periods in unpredictable conditions.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong situational awareness
  • Calm and controlled demeanor under pressure
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making skills
  • Clear and professional communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while functioning as part of a coordinated team
  • Willingness to follow safety protocols without deviation
  • Reliable personal vehicle (technicians use their own vehicle)
  • Ability to commit to a minimum of 2+ shifts per week
  • Commitment through the active season (minimum through December)
  • Willingness to obtain and maintain required AZGFD Wildlife Services licensing (training provided)

Professional Characteristics We Value

  • Respect for wildlife and ethical handling practices
  • Patience and restraint during capture situations
  • Strong problem-solving ability
  • Genuine interest in learning snake behavior and species identification
  • Reliability and responsiveness
  • Long-term commitment mindset

Preferred

  • Previous snake handling experience
  • Wildlife biology or herpetology background
  • Experience in fieldwork or outdoor labor
  • Public-facing service experience
  • Species identification knowledge

We will train the right candidate. However, resistance to training or overconfidence in prior experience is not a fit for our organization.

Compensation Structure

  • Per-call compensation (income is directly tied to calls completed)
  • Technicians use their own vehicle and pay for fuel
  • Scheduling flexibility within committed shifts
  • Opportunity for advancement within a growing organization

Who This Position Is NOT For

  • Thrill-seekers seeking adrenaline
  • Individuals who resist structure or safety protocols
  • “Know-it-alls” unwilling to learn
  • Candidates who cannot communicate calmly with homeowners
