A late-night call for a little Western Diamondback Rattlesnake took CJ to a brand-new development in Cave Creek. Unfortunately, it’s a story we see often. As construction expands into undeveloped areas, snakes can find themselves displaced from the habitat they’ve relied on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since this young rattlesnake was clearly born last summer, CJ felt comfortable relocating it to a more stable area that is less likely to be developed in the near future. After a short search, he found a perfect little cave beneath some discarded construction debris that offered plenty of shelter and security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a bonus, the release site also featured a Western Banded Gecko, making for a nice habitat cameo before the young rattlesnake disappeared into its new refuge within its estimated home range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
